I’m taking 15 mg total in a day but in 3 doses of 5 mg each with meals . I would rather take it all in the morning or At night but was wondering if anyone does that with success. I don’t feel well most of the day and am considering going up to 20 mg. That would mean FOUR times a day— very inconvenient. Any advice? By the way, I am still supplementing with a very small amount of clonazepam to go through the day. That’s why I think I need a higher dose than 15 mg total.
Does anyone successfully take the entire dose of buspirone all at one time?

Hi Suemp123, I recently upped my dosage from 5 mg 2x/day to 10 mg 2x/ day, and felt an immediate difference. After about a week now I am adding a third dose in the evening. I did have some insomnia as I added the increased dose, but found that upping melatonin at night helps from 3 mg to 6 mg with me with sleep. Blessings on your healing journey!
In the past I have taken 30mg am and 30mg pm, but through trial, error, and research, I’ve determined the best dosage for me is 15 mg every 6 hours if I’m on a 60mg dose(higher stress times) or 15mg every 8 hours if I’m on a 45mg dose (lower stress times). As my psych explained to me, Buspirone goes through the system quickly and has a very short half life. I think taking one large dose, or two large doses in my case, the levels in my body were too uneven and that’s why I felt poor with the two big daily doses. I recognize the multiple doses are a pain, but so is anxiety. Multiple daily doses are a trade off I’ve made, and after 20+ years taking the medication, it’s been a success for me. I wish they would have made this drug in an extended release form, oh well. We are all different, but I hope this helps. Good luck to you!
Hi, suemp!
I absolutely agree with Alpha. I also take divided doses as the drug wears off too quickly during the day. As he (she?) said, although minorly inconvenient it's far better than the anxiety I feel without it.
