I recently was prescribed a fairly need medication called Resotran. My pharmacist had never heard of it it is so new. I seem to be having a different side effect every day. The firsat day was the worst as the headache was unbelieveable. Since then I have had gas, dizzyness, sleepiness and thirst. It is helping with the IBS symptoms though I must admit.
Has anyone taken Resotran for IBS?

Hi, I have had IBS symptoms and felt like I was 9 months pregnant several times. Naturalpath said I had leaky gut. Put me on Rifaximin 550 mg and some tincture for 3 months. This drug cleans out all the bad bacteria in your large intestine which causes the gas and bloating. Feeling much better. Now starting on Resotran to train my small intestine to function properly and so far all is going as planned. Hope this insight into my treatment helps others.
Hey, It’s been 15 days I’m taking this regularly. Unfortunately, Its not working at all . Can somebody suggest me what to do?
I have IBS with constipation. I have better days and times with bad flare ups that make my stomach feel extended, with extreme painful gas, despite if I had regular BM that day or not. I asked my pharmacy for resotran which I'm not surprised they never heard of also there's no generic version do it's not covered by my health care. On days where my stomach feels exceptionally painful with having difficulty to go and have a " normal " BM I take 1/2 -1 tablet of 2 mg resotran and without irritation or " pain to go" like with other laxative type meditation, this one makes me go within hour of taking it without any cramps or pain.
Initially I remember not having much side effects but than I dont take this medication everyday and I don't take a whole tablet I try with 1/2 which usually does the job if Not than I'll take the other half but I can at least rely that I'll have a regular BM when I take it so I don't have to walk around all day with cramps and pain of constipation. That's mainly where it helps is to make you regular when nature can't kick in and it gets too painful to wait. On my flare up days when there's gas and cramps and even going to washroom doesn't help I take strong probiotic and some extra strength Gas-X which helps not as much as probiotic does once it kicks. I tried peppermint tablets but not on empty stomach and some extra water.
I am small person so just took 1mg and had nausea so halved that and much better and still works.
Wanted to tell you of my great experience. Now problem solved. Take it in the am as can give restless sleep and funny dreams as your temperature increases. I'm now not freezing all the time bonus. Also a by product is I'm more chilled. Defs recomended
After suffering with IBS-C or chronic constipation for 20 years, this drug is working! Been on it for 5 days. First day i had extreme diarhrea and terrible headache and generally felt sick. The next day the headache was gone, and my guts felt raw i suppose from the previous day. I am not gassy, not bloated and every morning like clockwork the urge to go has come. A totally foreign feeling for me. The first 4 days were diarhea type stools but this morning was the first real ... sorry here..turd i can ever remember having lol. I feel gurgling throughout the day some, but maybe thats my guts doing what they are supposed to do and i have never had that. I am very happy with resotran. I pray that it continues to work! Had been on zelnorm 14 yrs ago and it worked at first but then stopped working. Fingers crossed that this pill provides long lasting relief. Constipation has ruled my life for too long
Update: one week into it and it has stopped working. Been 3 days now and can't get that "urge" to go. Back to using suppositories to try to get relief. Why oh why couldn't this be the miracle drug!

Yes I am taking this drug and have just started it. The past 5 days have been interesting... background I have had 2 fundopications 3 hiatle hernias, and a pyloriplasty. And and one lower abdominal hernia--- one of my proceedures they clipped my Vagus Nerve... my symptoms since alll the fixes has been severe bloating, constipation, constand abdomninal pain. Leaving me unsable to work due to lack of sleep and severe depression from not being able to perform work duties... since starting the Resotran intestinal bloating is down 30-40% and pain has dereased significantly. It is still early and I am causiously optomistic and very pleased so far. Side effects so far side effects are decreased appitite and some discomfort and fatigue which are ok with me in comparison. I am about 30% better in 5 days will take that anyday!!! Give it a shot people well worth the 2 month trial my doc have me on... Good luck all...
PS get the majority of the Glutn out of your system... and don't go out and buy gluten free junk food cause its still junk food... stick with the good stuff steak chicken pork fish potatoes rice veggies.. Freash if you can but freash frozen will do and save you some money too.
That's my 5 cents hope it helps
Hi all
I know your posts are quite old but I am hoping someone reads this and can shed some light.
I have had problems with my bowels since I was a kid (I'm now 27) I have tried absolutely everything from different laxatives to change of diet and nothing works. At times I wouldn't have a bowel movement for 8-10 days causing severe discomfort as you can imagine!
I was prescribed resotran last Thursday and have mixed feelings. The first day I suffered a headache and had 2 small bowel movements. The second day I had another 2 small movements but no headache. Since then (now on the 5th day) I haven't had another bowel movement.
I have had a loss of appetite and great reduction in stomach cramps and bloating but feel as though I am filling up again.
Is this normal?? Should I be going daily or every second day?? Im unsure whether I should take a laxative if I don't have a movement by tomorrow.
Hopefully someone can give me some advice!!
Maybe you need the 2mg dosage? It may help you! Trust me I have had IBS since I was a little girl and now I'm almost 60! Hopefully you get some relief soon!
My daughter could barely function with such severe IBS/constipation. We had been everywhere and thought we'd tried everything. After finally getting in with a very senior gastroenterologist, she was prescribed Resotrans. This medication has given back her quality of life. She had some headaches and nausea for a few days but now her bowels are great.
I just started Resotran a week ago, but I also started an antibiotic at the same time (still on both). Body started trying to empty out the first two days- just so so much to clean out. 3rd day extreme diarrhea, 4th day - normal! After years! 5th day- extreme diarhea. One thing though- about the same time of taking R., I started having extreme night terrors (which I've never had before) trying to wake up, crying and screaming in my dreams and crying and screaming when I DO wake up. The doc said not to take it last night. That was ugly- EXTREME extended gut like 9 mos preg, extension pain- you guys get the idea. Last night no terror and no Resotran. We'll see how it goes. Can't live with the IBS, it controls my life. Will go on R. again in couple days and see how it goes. Had high hopes for this med. *Anyone else have serious messed up sleep from this?
It's affecting my sleep. Not letting me get more than six hours before cramps or something wakes me up and that's after keeping me up for 20-26hrs at a time. I just got prescribed this medication and I already feel like a blasted junky. It's worrying me.
I started resotran 2 days ago as I cannot have regular vowel movements and have a lot of abdominal pain. I didn't get too bad of a headache, but I did take an Advil. The day after taking my first dose I had three large bowel movements and was not running to the bathroom or having severe cramps. I did get really bad nightmares my second night and that was horrible. I am going to stick with this medication for a little while as I had an abdominal ultrasound before starting this med and it showed that I wa literally filled with poop from head to toe! The dr said I wasn't obstructed, just severely impacted. So far I think it's a good medication. I recommend taking an Advil after taking it though.
I've been on this medication for almost a year for IBS-C. My US doctor agreed to write me a script that I get filled from overseas. The generic medication is called prucalopride and the brand name I take is called Resolor. I tried every single possible treatment and medication available for IBS-C in the US for three years and this was the first thing to work on both constipation and distention. (Amitiza worked but I felt like I had the flu every single day and it just wasn't worth it, as bad as my IBS-C was.)
Within an hour of taking 1mg of Resolor I had the most normal movement I had had since my symptoms began. I don't remember having any unpleasant side effects. It lost some effectiveness (maybe 10%-25%) after about 6 weeks or two months but is still the best thing I've found. If they can make it stronger and extended release, I'd be very pleased.
They make a Resotran 2mg maybe it will help you better! Take good care of yourself as I've had IBS ever since I can remember. I was very young when I was diagnosed with it!
I have been taking Resotran for 4 months. It is very effective. I am in USA. I have to buy it from Canada. Where do you get the Resolor overseas? What are you paying for it? Does anyone know when it will be available in USA so my insurance can pay for it? Why do most countries have it available and not the USA?
Hi I have been just subscribed Resotrans for I

I talked to 2 doctors in US and they refused to get me prescription for it, by saying it is not approved in US. Can I know the contact of your doctor?
Thanks!
Where do you get it filled overseas? How much does it cost you? I tried it years ago when I was traveling through Thailand and it worked amazingly!
I've not heard of it but would like to know how it's working for your IBS? I'm going to talk to my doctor at the end of the month about something for mine, if this is what I have. I've had stomach issues for about 20 years now after food poisoning which has affected my daily life in a very negative way. I'm just so tired of living this way, something needs to change so I'm willing to try anything at this point. Kim.
It is working amazingly!!! The side effects at the beginning were awful but they went away after 3 or 4 days. I am regular now and have lost 4lbs because I am no longer so bloated and full. You have to make sure you take it same day every day though. I forgot a dose this week and got real nauseous. Once I took it though I felt better within a half hour.
I just looked it up and I see it's used for IBS-C, I'm the opposite unfortunately. Glad to hear it's working for you though, IBS is not fun to live with at all.
Food poisoning can trigger SIBO. Have you had a SIBO breath test, GIMAP stool test and an OATS test?
