I say nerve pain because it's gone in the morning and creeps up like a beast in the night or if I stay still for long periods of time, such as sleeping. Or is this just anxiety?

Yes!! I was put on Buspirone for anxiety. Less than a month after my doctor increased dosage from 20mg to 30mg I started having severe pain in the back-left of my neck and left shoulder, as well as Restless Leg Syndrome. It's been 9 months of severe pain, until just realizing it now! I'm getting weened off if it completely - currently at 20gm again, with much reduced pain. Bizarrely, the drug (at least for me) has had a "Viagra Effect," literally increasing my sex drive!! Unfortunately, it's not worth living with the pain, so OFF I go.
Hi, Klonopinkid!
I've never heard of buspirone causing nerve pain either and it's not listed as a reported side effect. Muscle aches/pains/spasms/cramps can affect a small number of users though. Generally these side effects appear after first starting the medication and resolve over days to a couple of weeks. If you've been on the medication for a longer period of time you might want to get your doctor's opinion and also rule out any other cause.
Maybe they cover it by just saying muscle aches I mean I do ache. Thanks!
Forgot to add one week into treatment
This burn/nerve pain turned out to be buspar jacking with my fight or flight system and moving blood away from places the anxiety thought it wasn't needed. The fix was stop the buspar. If you start to burn, look for another medicine this was hell to figure out.
Hello, that’s an interesting one I have not heard of. I’ve been taking buspirone for 19 years and I’ve never believed it to cause any nerve pain for me, nor have I ever read that as a possible side effect. I agree with you, it may be a side effect of the anxiety. I have noticed in the past during very stressful times I do get muscle pain in my shoulders, back, and arms. I’ve always blamed anxiety. Everyone is different, if it continues to be a concern, I’d reach out to your pharmacist. I hope this helps! Good luck to you!
