Everything was going really well and I felt better than ever, for the first two wks on 145 and have been on the 290 for four days. Nothing for two days except stomach distension. I am so disappointed beyond belief, I will take the 145 for a month and give it a fair shot.
Has anyone experienced that linzess stopped working?

I am so glad I found you guys!! I have been on linzess 145 for about 3 months it was working great. Now it's been several days since I've been able to go. I upped my dose to 290 a few days ago still nothing. I honestly don't think I can go back to the high doses of magnesium citrate or milk of magnesia. I have taken so much of that stuff my tolerance is very high and makes me sick to my stomach when I take it. There has got to be a better way!!
I've been taking 290 mg for over a year and I've decided to stop wasting my money. I've paid close attention to the fact that the drug looses potency within 30 days of opening the bottle. I get 3-30 day refill bottles from my mail order pharmacy ($120) and they are all sealed and contain up to 4 freshness preservers per bottle. The manufacturer insert says to keep tightly sealed and away from moisture. In other words they know the drug looses potency when it is exposed to air. The issue is NOT YOU it's an unstable product with a very short shelf life.
This just started happening to me. I actually took it every 3 or 4 days for a year and then it just stopped working. Desperate, I tried one dose of Miralax with the Linzess pill. The following day it worked.
If I just take Miralax once a day, that doesn't work, but perhaps the combination will.
I have the exact same problem with the linzess and now considering taking Miralax once again on top of the Linzess to see what happens. Can you let me know how that went?
Yes! I have been on Linzess for one month and it works one day a week within 2 hours of taking it on an empty stomach. The remainder of the week I am constipated, full of gas, bloated, and have cramps. I am glad that it only cost me $20/month, but it is a waste of money so far.
U r lucky!!! It cost me 260.00 for 30 pills!!!
I have been taking 145 for a year, although only 3 times a week and it worked perfectly, except for the fact that I never knew when the urge would come. I only took it 3 days a week because once or twice I experienced sudden diarrhea.
The past week it didn't work at all so I took it every day for 3 days. No luck. So strange and upsetting. I am a senior and have had chronic constipation my entire life. I thought I had found the answer and am obviously upset.

Same here... it seems like my doctor is using me for a Ginny pig... Its the worst feeling when you can't go!
I'm at the point where I'm starving myself to death. I don't know what to eat and what amount's to eat... any suggestions!
If you're taking and opioid pain meds and constipated they have a special medicine that works pretty good it's like nalxegel not naloxone that would put you in to withdrawal if you have been on and opioid pain meds for a while asked your doctor about this it's very expensive and Medicare dose not pay for it but luckily my doctor has samples Also if linzess isn't working you may have a bile obstruction and
And Shasha64 I find yogurt food high and take power fiber in your sticks chewing your food thoroughly has helped me and if you can lower your meat expressly red meat my reason for saying that is cave people or homoertous I believe ate a lot of meat even early homosapians just about lived off meat and you can find petrified poo in caves around the world makes me think that they probably had to deal with this a lot less money less meat and more vegetables lower in starch like potatoes would not be good but fresh leafy green vegetables not canned because a lot of that will just taste bad and will turn you away per say I hate canned spinach but I can easily eat it none cooked with some dressing on it not to bad but I am not dietary specialist so don't take it from me ask your doctor or if its way out of had get a dietary specialist If you can pay for it if not just do a little research and you will do fine
Same exact issue-2 weeks on the 145mg and it worked every day. Now at every other and with major effort... I was so happy that it was working properly... now the effects are falling off and it will be back you the same nonsense. What happened?
I took 145 for about 7 mos, It worked somewhat. My Gastro Dr. put me on 290, I've been on it for about a year. Now all of a sudden it stopped working. I go days without a bowel movement then have to resort to a suppository and it's like a dam breaking loose. What should I do?
Yes!!! This exact thing happened, is happening to me... Down to the four days of constipation. I broke down and took a laxative. The lower dose worked for two weeks, a bowl movement every day! Then it just stopped. So, my doctor put me on the higher dose and I felt like a hot air balloon and was still constipated. I've been trying linzess for almost a month now and was so hopeful, but I think I'm done. Why take it, if it isn't going to work. Plus seeing the exact same thing happen to you convinces me this is not good.
Linzess had been working fine for almost a month. Then nothing. Taking the 145mcg dose. Any clues why it suddenly stops?
It just stops working. No answer as too why?
yes
would you please clarify your question 1) indications for taking meds 2) how did the effect change on the higher dosage? 3) why was your dose lowered 4) have you notified your doctor about your concerns, if not please inform your doctor immediately?

Thanks for your response. I started to take Linzees for chronic constipation my doctor thought it might work for me she started me on 145 mg even know I have been diagnosed for many years with IBS and the 145 seem to work and I decided before I filled the prescription to try the next strength of 290. For some reason I have not gone to the bathroom in 4 days. There has been a prescription for me waiting at pharm for the 145mg. My dilemma... did this pill stop working, why try more pills or give the 145mg at least a month. I was very optimistic for first 12 days. Maybe back to mira lax. My dr is not that familiar with this pill. Any thoughts???
Did your doctor recommend increasing your dosage if the lower dosage seemed to be effective?
are you worried because you'd not have a bowel movement for 4 days?

I have been taking Linzess 145mg for 5 days and absolutely no sign of anything! I am quite disgusted, as it worked for 10-12 days when I took the samples. I filled a 3 month supply, that was quite expensive and now... nothing.
The effectiveness was very short lived. At the beginning, I had hope that this was really going to help my constipation, bloat and distention. But I am quite disappointed.
i used the 145 mg for 1.5 months noticed it started to not work as well. increased to 290 mg for several days and started to experience extreme bloating and being constipated again. stopped all meds and the bloat is going down and had a bm today too. the drug was great but for not long enough for me. definately not worth the high tier copay for something that is not dependable :/
I have been taking Lizness for about a week now. I have had chronic constipation since birth. Just went to a new gastro and highly recommended Lizness. I was not too confident since I was taking medicine for chronic constipation for the past 30 years- I am now 52-years old. This medicine worked like a miracle for three days and then stopped working altogether. How come? I just want to go back to the medicine I was on for the past 30-years. In the past, I have gone weeks on end w/o a bowel movement. GUESS WHAT, THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I would not wish this on anyone. I have been tested for Short-Segment Hirschprung's. I just think if Linzess stopped working on me, I may as well just go back to what I was taking. I am sure that Linzess in a great medicine for many people, I am not one of them. Really wished it did not stop working on me.
Linzess relieved my constipation beautifully for approx. 6 months, then it stopped working. My gastroenterologist said that can happen.
I'm regular now taking in divided doses: 3-4 Magnesium Citrate 200 mg tabs/day; 6-10 softened prunes/day, a healthy diet with plenty of vegetables+fruits high in fiber, lots of water, and occasional Miralax as needed. To prevent or alleviate IBS pain/discomfort I try to avoid simple sugars/carbs, I've learned to eat slowly & chew my food well, and take Beano tablets (they're not just for beans, but for many carbohydrates) and occasionally take Gas-X (simethicone) -- but it seems to have stopped working also..
I been using linzess 145 for a year and it stopped working. Dr put me on the highest dose and it's not working either along with miralax , dulcolax. What else can I take? The only thing that works is magnesium citrate. I take it once a week.
I have to rotate with Linzess, Miralax, Milk of Magnesia and stool softeners and combinations thereof. It is maddening and confusing for sure!!
