I've had chronic constipation for 30 yrs nothing works. I'm currently on day 13 with no bowel movement and day 3 of linzess 145, all I've had is a little bit of gas nothing else. How long should I give before I bump it up to the higher dose?
I understand completely ! I started with the 290, but it was too strong. I take the 145. Here's what I found that works not always the same but close.
Wake up. Drink a bottle or glass of water. Take Linzess. Drink some more water. Wait 30 mins. Eat. Stay on the same schedule each day. Meaning don't take it one morning and then the next afternoon, then lunch then... If i follow this routine I've learned that I don't even have to take it daily. I am also half way insomniac so taking it at night keeps me up... Hope this helps. This was trial and error from my Zelnorm days and it works...
I began taking Linzess 2 months ago and in the beginning thought it was the silver bullet. My physician initially prescribed 145mcg and then increased my dosage to 290mcg. At the initial start of each therapy I thought it was going to work but then stopped. I have been reading additional information and comments from others and did find that one patient was having better success taking Linzess after a breakfast with some fat. The patient began this administration due to the information in the Linzess material that stated in cross trials patients who took the Linzess after a high fat breakfast had looser bowel movements. I plan to try this to see if it will work before I have to resort back to laxatives..
It took me at least 4 or 5 days at first to work . Also, if you are still having issues , my dr. told me to take a non-stimulant stool softener along with it. I take the stool softener at night before I go to bed , than I take Linzess ( I did have to move up eventually to the 290's ) when I wake up in the morning. I drink at least 1 bottle or 2 cups of WARM water when taking it. I then find relieve within 30 minutes most days.
I'm a 67 years male with chronic constipation. Been taking 145 mg for 30 days. Experienced relief after taking in 2 days. I always take it near 6:00am with a large glass of water. I then eat at 7:00am (usually toast/coffee). I have a "normal BM" within 30 minutes. Then have a smaller BM about an hour later. Now After 30 days, I'm experiencing loose stool. I am now experimenting with taking the drug every other day. Occasionally I have experienced cramping & discomfort during the day.
Always I had difficulty going to the bathroom, but after I had surgery in my colon everything got worse. My bowel movements had stopped completely. I began to take all kind laxatives. I had a lot of cramps, bloating, discomfort and I could barely pass anything . It was a nightmare. Than my GI prescribed me Linzess 145 mg. It took several days to start to work. I almost gave up. I am talking about 2-3 weeks. Finally it began to work and I don't have any cramps, nothing. I don't even take it everyday day anymore ( just when things are getting difficult). I take it first thing in the morning with a big cup of water. Begin to fix my kids breakfast and other things, meanwhile I still sipping water. After 45-1hr I eat my breakfast. Sometimes I have a bowel movement in a 30 minutes other times more. Couple times it didn't work, so I did the same routine next day and it works. I am really happy that I found this drug because I was suffering so much with my constipation.
Well the doctor put me on 290 mg of linzess it does not work at all I've been on it 7 days nothing so he told me to take some bowel suppositories so I'm going to try those this evening how long are you supposed to take this stuff in your gut till it begins to work that's the strongest dose you would have seen something by now I'm 78 years old and I'm miserable feel like I have to go but this
