Everywhere I've read, the maximum recommended dosage for Lyrica is 600mg but I take 3 times that/day. Is anyone else up there with me in dosage and if so, are you having side effects from it?
Does anyone take more than 1800mg of Lyrica?

Richard; Even on the FDA site and many current studies that I can find I do not see where anyone should be taking this much Lyrica the maximum is 600mg and from what the manufacturer and FDA say this is a copy and paste from our site that rarely are there benefits of taking over 450mg daily I really think you should check with your Pharmacist, And see if they know of anything newer going on that I can't find which is in the same books they are going to use. Then check with your doctor and have the doctor double check, either way, I have no idea how you are dealing with the side effects of this medication at this dose. here is a copy and paste from this site drugs.com.(( treatment with doses above 450 mg/day is not recommended))) And even at that, I would get a second oppiniun. Remember if they start to drop dose it has to be done slowly. GOOD LUCK DO SOMETHING TODAY!!!
P.S. please let me know if you find out anything different. But as far as I know and all I have seen I don't even know of many Pharmacist that would fill this prescription at this dose or an Insurance company that would pay for this high of a dose. Good luck.
Agree with Chuck 100%.. Maximum clinical dose is 600mg/day and like he said they say that the difference between 400mg and 600mg is negligible. 600mg 3x day is crazy.. dont know how doctor or pharmacist could let that slide.. Now Gabapentin certainly can have much higher doses
Thanks for the responses thus far. I did use Neurontin but was taking 6000mg/day with no results. My diabetic nerve pain is severe and I found it hard to do my job. Then I was on Hydromorphone for a time but when I returned to my job as a truck driver, I had to stop taking that. The neurologist put me on Lyrica and I started out at 300mg/day but as time went on, it took more and more to eliminate the pain. The current dosage I've been on for 8 years.
Until something comes along that I can try, I'm stuck. I can't do my job with the pain in my feet. It feels like my toes are being randomly cut off a few hundred times/day. When I don't have the pleasure of that, it's a burning hot crochet needle shoved thru the arch of my feet along with the constant burning on top of my feet.
Luckily, the current dosage hasn't needed increasing... something I'd refuse to do anyway.
As far as side effects, I do have blurred vision that I know I can attribute to Lyrica (I did have 20/20 vision prior). If I do have other side effects I can't tell as many of Lyrica's side effects mimic the effects of having diabetes.
