As many of you may know, I have several back conditions. Well, my Doctor just prescribed Soma for me, I know that it is a muscle relaxer, and is not a narcotic. However, I have read alot about it and many people state that it is very close to a narcotic in the way that it makes you feel. So, basically my question is, And if any of you have taken it, please share your experience with me! I don't like the loopy drugged up feeling, so please let me know your experience and if this compares at all to Vicodin or Percocet.
Does Soma give you feeling of "well being" like you get with Vicodin or Percocet?

I don’t get the feeling of “wellbeing” but my very experienced friend swears that Soma are the most underrated drug. They don’t compare to Percocet at all in my opinion. I just feel slightly more relaxed, but have never suffered from muscle spasms so they may help with those.
Soma DOES give you a VERY well being euphoria!!! I sometimes wish it didn't because I can't get off this drug! I remember taking it in the early 2000's and thinking wow why isn't this a controlled substance ... it is now a controlled substance and it is very hard to get
First time taking it . Dr told me about the " soma coma ". Ha I feel no different.i also take Percocet 5mg at a time . Don't feel anything from them except pain relief . I accidentally took a whole one once 10 mg and got a little loopy . I like mess that let me work . As for the soma , took it went to bed ghost a headache . Hope it's not the soma !
Soma will not necessarily give you a sense of "Well being" or euphoria, it will, however, knock you out and you WILL feel loopy and drugged up. DO NOT CONSUME ANY ALCOHOL WITH THIS MEDICINE!!! You will be sleeping within 15 minutes and will not wake up for hours, if you've had even one drink! It is not a scheduled drug where I'm from, but probably should be. It has very high abuse potential, and is exremely dangerous when taken in combination with narcotic pain meds, Benzo's, or Alcohol. Google "Soma Coma", and you will find info and statistics on how dangerous it actually is.
I was prescribed Soma 350mg 3x/day. The doctor told me not to take it every day, being that it is as addictive or "habit-forming" as Vicodin or Percocet. In the beginning I was taking a tablet only when I needed it, but within two or three weeks I was taking it 3 times a day. It is very habit forming, but only because it works. Tolerance builds very quickly. I am no longer taking Soma, and am glad that I got away from it. When I stopped, it took about a week to feel that I no longer needed it. For that week, my muscle spasms and pain seemed worse than when I originally went for treatment. If you only take one tablet when needed, it will help tremendously. If you take it three times a day for more than a couple days in a row, it will not be as effective due to the quick tolerance issues.
I hope this helped.
Zig.
Yes I completly agree with zig. I have been on them for allmost three years now along with other drugs. The only thing I notice is that if I miss a pill or a day then the spasms get bad. real bad. Can't walk and will be on the floor writhing in pain. For me they are a blessing. I am way past worring about addiction issues. If it works helps my symptoms then I will take as prescribed. That is crucial. The medications must be taken as prescribed to get the full benefit. I would be bedridden or dead if it wasn't for my pain Management Dr and PCP. I was prescribed somas twice a day 350mg and for me it works wonders on my muscle spasms. I call them permanent charlie horses... Good Luck to you B
