Venlafaxine is not a MAOI, it’s a SNRI antidepressant. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant. These two show an interaction on the interaction checker on this site because they’re both antidepressants, but if your doc knows you’re on venlafaxine then he thinks it’s OK. I am on two ad right now including amitriptyline. A small number of people are. Also 10 mg is a low dose of amitriptyline. The starting dose is 25 mg and goes up to 150. You can also ask your pharmacist about this too.
