I have been on clonazepam .5 dosage for the past 2 years now. I had been taking the generic brand Teva, which worked amazing for me! However, for my past two prescription refills, I had been getting orange pills instead of my usual yellow ones. The bottle says that the manufacturer of these orange pills is “Accord”? And since taking this brand, I have felt horrible. My short term memory is messed up, and I have this weird feeling that my body is on autopilot. It’s so hard to explain. My anxiety has been at an increased level. Overall, I feel like I just might be going insane! Is it even possible for a change in the manufacturer of the same brand to cause different side effects? As stated previously, Teva brand worked outstandingly well for me. Does anyone else feel this way with the Accord brand of clonazepam? What do I do? I’m open to any and all advice!
Is Accord generic clonazepam awful for anyone else?

I was on teva went to accolade and got tinnitus any one.get that
I know this is an older post, but just wanted to give my experience... I was on TEVA clonazepam 2mg for over 5 years, and then when TEVA stopped making their clonazepam, I was switched to Accord brand... I have seen people here who have had bad experiences with Accord, but when I switched to it, I found absolutely no difference... the Accord works just as good as the TEVA for me.
I had to take a drug screen for my doctor, and it tested positive for clonazepam... Again, everyone is is different... I have not personally tried the Actavis brand.
Similar here, I have been on the Accord for 8 months. They cut easily and don’t shatter, I’m tapering off very slowly. Thought all this nausea and GI trouble was the taper and my body. Started a new script of .5mg peach pills on Monday and began to feel really bad. Not sleeping, headaches, depression, extremely sick to my stomach and lots of nausea. I had not made a reduction in my dosage in 2 weeks. By Thursday morning of that week I was in full WD and I had made no reduction to bring on an accuse WD. So I took a Solco brand pill from a refill screw up. I felt better in a matter of hours and no nausea. I’ve since switched over to Solco brand and many side effects have lessened or gone away. It’s not perfect but much better than when I was on the Accord brand. My pharmacist asked that I report it to the FDA med Watch line. Absolutely will do that!!
I registered for an account just to join this thread. Took Sandoz 0.5 mg for years, no issues. Switched to Accord Nov 2018 and it has destroyed my GI system. To the point I had to see a specialist and get a premature (before 50) colonoscopy, which I was told showed nothing. And yet, I continue to have GI issues that started as soon as I switched to the Accord and haven't stopped. Going on 4 months. Trying to find an independent that can order exact generic for me, as retail places are often hampered by their corporate. Oh, and I'm a pharmacist, and all generics ARE NOT created equal. I'm reporting this ADR to the FDA and encourage others to do same.
Why would you take it for 4 months? I was given Solco brand and after 3 days and far too many GI problems, I got it switched.
The Dr. told me the generics HAVE to carry the same drug but the fillers are different...
Yes, the only Clonazepam 1mg I have been able to get for the past 6-9 months is the Accord Brand. I hate them! It’s like taking candy, totally ineffective. They’re are numerous complaints about this med. Try going to the FDA website and keep filing complaints regarding this generic form!!! Hopefully they will do something!!
OMG!!! I have the SAME problem with Accord generic clonazepam! When I used to get them at Costco, they were great. Teva is the lab they used. Then ,they went to Actavis which work as well. I had to switch pharmacies (I moved and Costco was too far) I started using Smith's (Kroger). OMG... I was taking the pills as usual and, they simply did not work. they also seem to "scramble" my brain? It's too weird to try to explain. All I know is THIS ACCORD company is NOT making the proper clonazapem!! No one seems to believe me. But, for 30 years I've been taking this, thus I know without doubt, this ACCORD is NOT using correct formula. Maybe they aren't even putting any Klonopin in it?? I also noticed this pill is NOT "scored". ALL my other clonazepam is scored. HOW or where do I make a complaint or how do I find a LAB that can analyze what the contents REALLY are? I was told by Kroger: "too bad, but we will only use ACCORD, so go elsewhere"... wow! Anyone out there I'd appreciate any help on this. I am mad!!!
What do you mean by not "scored"? I have Accord .5 orange pills and they are scored down the middle and also have a 1 and 2 on either side.
Your doctor should be able to help you on this. I could not take Solco brand and they switched me immediately.
I seriously doubt that this Chinese made drug has any clonazepam in it at all. I think Accord submitted their "perfect" sample to the FDA, they rubber stamped it and now Accord is making something that is close to a clonazepam compound but not quite. There are too many different side effects for this to be a simple (there's too much or not enough clonazepam in it). Side effects that people who have been on many brands of clonazepam over decades have never experienced. I don't expect the FDA to get on it quickly but when they do all they will do is hit Accord with a big fine. In the mean time there are tens of thousands of people who could be taking some sort of veterinarian sedative for hedgehogs.
I only got Accord for a year I was just fine with it. I don't get it now! I'm given Actavis clonazepam and its not working. The following month I was given the Solco brand and it's a little better but Accord is the best. I don't remember if I've had Teva but I read that it's been the best. Actavis I wont accept I hope the Accord brand will be back next time.
They have Accord where I live. You have to call around and ask your Dr. to specify.
I called my doctor. He said there's no difference between them and I can get whatever they have in stock. I'm calling before next month to see who has Accord. I'm finding the Solcol isn't bad. My pharmacist said he had Accord and he would fill mine with it and save it, but he didn't. It was the blue Solcol. As long as it's not Actavis I'm OK.
Yes. , this accord garbage shouldn't even be in pharmacies, they don't have the correct dose, and possibly not only but no active clonazepam, in all they pills. But when you take a few you maybe will get a the dose. I will not ever get these again, if I go to a pharmacy, and they say that this accord brand, I will not take them. Believe me that garbage got me into a lot of problems, and I won't be in fear of my life with that fake, placebo junk. Or what ever they are putting in those pills, but it isn't clonazepam. Jb. ¥€?
My anxiety has been raging for months now, and the only explanation is not having Teva or sandoz generics for the past two refills. This Accord is absolutely not helping like it’s supposed to . My social anxiety has come full force when previously, it was basically (temporarily) treated.
It is a fact. It is not “in our heads.” It’s a fact this is inferior to the point I am suffering and so many people are as well.
I find it strange also how all of the sudden, all the pharmacies around my area (I tried 10 or 11) both local style and chain ONLY had accord, literally no other.
This has been very sudden, I’m so so so bothered that Teva AND sandoz quit manufacturing generic Klonopin now.
I’m not being dramatic and I originally did not have a bias about accord when i first received it. So I’m not being biased it’s not placebo.
Also it’s RIDICULOUS the amount of color filler is in these. If it is dissolved in my mouth (for breakthrough anxiety permission from my Doctor) it colors my whole mouth bright blue; all my teeth ! Like an unnecessarily strong colorant in the inactives. Yet I could be okay with this if I was not having severe issues with such inferior medicine.
I do not know if this is related or something else, but I have been very sick lately - I NEVER feel nausea, but recently I’ve been nauseous for no reason all the time. Not pregnant of course. But I am concerned. I can’t bensure it’s this medicine I don’t want to loose credibility by jumping to conclusions.
But the anxiety issue is simply a fact and I’m suffering tremendous
I’m so glad you started this post. I really hope everyone that feels this way speaks out, because it’s not okay.
I feel the same way I usually get my medication from one Pharmacy but they were out this month so I went to another Pharmacy and the medication has no effect on me whatsoever
Yes I think they are junk they take 2 1mg tablets to equal 1mg
I just started taking Accord clonazepam and don’t like it at all. It stuffs up my nose and makes it hard to breathe at night in bed. Also, I can’t get to sleep, which is why I take it . I like Teva manufacturer the best and Activa is OK, too. Has Accord taken over the market? Can someone answer this question? I’m getting worried.
Today is Sunday 12/9/18. I have been on 2mgs. clonazepam for at least 25 years.
The only brands I have ever taken are the brand name Klonopin, the generic Teva, and the generic Mylan. I have only taken the Mylan several times. The brand and Teva I feel are the ones that work the best. The Mylan is okay too. But what I don't like about the Mylan is that it's more difficult to split, especially in 1/4ths. And it's practically impossible to split in 1/8ths. That's right! I said in 1/8ths. I've weaned off of clonazepam completely several times using the Ashton Manual from 8mgs a day down to 0.00mgs. And I've needed to split the 0.5mg. pills in 1/8ths, which is very possible with the Tevas using a pill splitter doing it very carefully. It won't crumble into pieces if you do it very carefully and acurrately.
But yesterday for the first time, when I got my prescription for my 2mg generic clonazepam, when I got home, I realized I had gotten a different brand. I used a pill identifier to make sure it was clonazepam 2mgs. It was, and it was the brand Accord Health Care. Normally, before I get my clonazepam I ask the pharmacy if they have the Teva brand. And if they don't, they order it and I'll get it usually by the next day. But every time I would call, the Teva brand was almost always the one they had. So for the first time I didn't bother asking and just turned in my prescription. Well the Accord Health Care generic brand turned out to be " very weird.". It's hard to explain. Apparently it's working because my withdrawal symptoms that I had ( I had been out of my clonazepam for 30 days and was hurting badly) have gone away in 2 days. But the weird thing is that I can't feel when the clonazepam is taking effect. And I always can. But not with this Accord Health Care brand. It's extremely subtle. In fact, I really don't feel much at all. It doesn't feel like clonazepam. In fact, it doesn't feel like anything. It feels flat, weak. And it feels different. I can subtly feel it. To put it plainly, I just don't like it. Next time I go for a refill and from now on, I'm going to call about 5 days before I run out and request them to order the Teva brand, my favorite generic brand. At Walmart the pharmacist said I can call about 5 days before I run out and request them to order the generic Teva brand and they'll do it. That's Walmart. So I wanted to post this so people can know that they can request a particle brand at Walmart and if they don't have it you can request it be ordered. And they'll do it. I'm not sure about other chains. But at least at the Walmarts here in South Texas, they'll do that. Hopefully this info will help people who have Walmarts close by. Best of luck guys.
TEVA bought out actavis and are using actavis' formula for the klonopin. I called and complained because TEVA is all that has worked for me. I'm currently on name brand, and hope I can get a brand exception and only pray they bring TEVA back
I am having serious issues with Accord Clonazepam. To try and explain my LONG battle with anxiety I am going to go into some long details here. I have been battling for 32 years so my story is kind of long but for those of you who are in the throws of this affliction, my experience might give you some help or hope. So here it goes: I started having panic attacks in college, blew it off and drank heavily. After talking with my aunt I guess it was the secret that ran in my fathers side of the family. I had already went through a bunch of neurological testing when I was 21 (not fun) and was eventually prescribed Xanax way back when when they actually had sample packs of three.
When I was 27 I decided to seek help from a psychiatrist. No more drinking, no benzodiazepines and I was prescribed Imipramine which worked well but made me sweat profusely. I started putting on weight and everyone thought I was going to have a heart attack but my anxiety was controllable. I stopped seeing a professional and had my GP write the script for Imipramine. By 2001 I had enough, I was the owner of a very successful business but the profuse sweating was very annoying. I had put on about 40 lbs. I asked my GP about alternatives and to make this short I tried every SSRI and SNRI that was on the market. None of them worked (Zoloft was the absolute worst for me) and I went back to Imipramine. No go this time, just a lot of sweating. I should have just stayed on it. My business was growing large, my anxiety levels were always running high, I was flying all over the place on business so I did something dumb. I asked my GP for Xanax for flying.
Ah, the instant relief from panic attacks and no sweating. The problem was I started taking more and more. Benzodiazepines are nasty in that way. My GP gave me notice that he was retiring and I found another psychiatrist who was rather loose writing scripts. I started taking more and more Xanax and then it was suggested that I add Clonazepam to the Alprazolam. For 5 years I have been on these two drugs and all has been well. Sure I get a bit riled and might take an emergency Xanax every once in a while but on a whole I have been doing great. I have been in a battle for 32 years, my weight is back to normal, I sold my company and am financially secure even if I live to be 100.
That's the back story and while long it needed to be told. You might not beat it but you can manage and live a very fulfilling life.
Here's my story now. I have been taking the same dose of Alprazolam for 10 years and Clonazepam for 5. I have been a very functional and outgoing person. The thing is while my pharmacy did switch to Dava for alprazolam and it gave me stomach aches so I have them order either Greenstone, Sandoz or actual Xanax because sometimes they have availability problems. I have found that Sun did not work well for me which is what they carry now. I never gave the Clonazepam much thought because I dont really take all that much but as of late (all of 2018) I have been feeling literally wrecked. I have no energy and want to sleep a lot. I'm not depressed but yet I'm just physically and mentally exhausted most of the time. So what has changed in my life? The manufacturer of my Clonazepam. I went from Actavis to Sandoz and now Accord. I have been tapering back and have found that it's the Accord that has made me basically feel drained. While our side effects are different, IMO there is defiantly something up with Accords Clonazepam. The one thing that stuck out was "My short term memory is messed up" because THAT is the one thing we have in common. I have tapered back to almost nothing but if I were you I would switch brands. I would avoid Mylan because a lot of people say that their benzodiazepines are weak across the board. I specifically signed up because of this issue but I'm going to keep tapering until I'm off Clonazepam. Good Luck, switch to something else because Accord Clonazepam has literally made my life pretty difficult for almost the entire year.
I was on .5 mg TEVA for many years, then they switched to Actavis, which didn't work as well, then just this past week I was given Accord brand of clonazepam (without CVS telling me but I did check the label) - and it's not working at all and I feel very very sore, big headaches, irritated. I'm just going to go on brand-name Klonopin until these companies get their old recipe back. Why do they fix a good thing? This awful vivid dreams are part of withdrawal too and they are coming at me with a vengeance. :-( I feel for you my peeps.
