It depends on what your body needs. Some people need more, some need less. You and your doctor just have to find what is best for you.
My husband takes two everyday and has for years now. That's how it was prescribed by the doctor. One isn't enough for him.
One does not help me and that is disappointing. I found this blog by googling could I take two. A Benadryl does so much better but it lasts only four hours. They should take it off the market or redo it so it works as it is not inexpensive.
I weigh 180 and take two loratadine every night. I have a slight allergy to our pets as well as gluten. I would always get congested at night after eating bread, pasta or drinking beer. One loratadine never helped. I started taking two and I am no longer congested during sleep and don't have the allergy issues throughout the following day. Two 10mg tabs make a really big difference for me.
Do not ask for dosage advice on a forum. Get professional medical advice.
That being said: yes, you can double your dosage. Packet dosages are different to what a doctor would prescribe. Depending on your reaction, doctors can prescribe up to 4 x 10mg a day.
I am currently getting allergy shots and have been having awful swelling reactions preventing me to move forward in my doses. The clinic told me to take 3 Claritan 1 Singular and (2) 150 mg Rantidine (Zantac) before each shot. They told me I could safely go up to 5 Claritan or Zyrtec and also mentioned Zyrtec works better for some people. I only weigh 145 lbs. so I would say you could easily take 2 Claritan or Zyrtec.
I don't know
great answer; thanks for weighing in.
Thanks for that, really helpful
My reference says do not exceed 10mg a day. If 10 doesn't work, more isn't going to. Very few medications for adults are dosed by weight.
Lots. Of my meds r dosed by weight. I did plenty of research on this question. Also said that zyrtec might work better or see your dr
thanks i will try 2 of them it it dont work then i will try the other one
Ok feel better and let us know :-)
My allergists have all approved a second dose in a 24 hour period, and I've heard that two Claritin in 24 hours is the European standard. I know teenage athletes who are very thin who do. I often take the second dose at 12 hours, but sometimes take them together if symptoms are really bad. One Zyrtec, by the way, made me feel like I was heavily medicated and I literally couldn't function -- my own reaction, but just FYI.

Hi
Pls do not double dose. Says ten milligrams for ages six and over once a day. Does say if u r over 200 lbs u can take two.
Have you ever tryed zyrtec. Its over the counter and works better than claritin per research
If it was me I would switch to zyrtec and if that doesn't work. I would call my dr
Best of everything
