Additional dosage information:
Usual Adult Dose for Hypertension
Initial dose: The initial dosage of hydrochlorothiazide-quinapril should be based on the patient requirements for each drug individually. The usual recommended dosage range for hypertension is 10 to 20 mg (quinapril) and 12.5 to 25 mg (hydrochlorothiazide) per day.
Renal Dose Adjustments
CrCl 25 mL/min or less: Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ)-quinapril is not recommended for patients with severe renal insufficiency because HCTZ is not expected to be filtered into the renal tubule (its site of action) when the glomerular filtration rate is less than 25 mL/min.
Liver Dose Adjustments
Thiazide diuretics should be used with caution in patients with impaired hepatic function.
Precautions
Safety and effectiveness have not been established in pediatric patients (less than 18 years of age).
Dialysis
Quinapril is not removed by hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
Other Comments
Hydrochlorothiazide-quinapril should be taken at the same time each day and may be administered without regard to meals.
