Cobenfy is a medication used to treat schizophrenia that works differently from other antipsychotics.

It was approved by the FDA in 2024.

This medication contains two ingredients, xanomeline and trospium chloride.

Xanomeline is a muscarinic agonist that works inside the brain to improve schizophrenia symptoms.

Trospium chloride is a muscarinic antagonist that works outside the brain to help reduce side effects caused by xanomeline.

Cobenfy is taken by mouth twice daily on an empty stomach.

The capsules should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, and should not be opened.

The most common side effects of Cobenfy are nausea, indigestion, constipation, vomiting, high blood pressure, stomach pain, diarrhea, fast heartbeat, and dizziness.
