Common side effects of telotristat
Some side effects of telotristat may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.

More common side effects
- bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
- decreased appetite
- discouragement
- excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
- feeling sad or empty
- fever
- full feeling
- headache
- irritability
- lack of appetite
- loss of interest or pleasure
- nausea
- passing gas
- rapid weight gain
- tingling of the hands or feet
- tiredness
- trouble concentrating
- trouble sleeping
- unusual weight gain or loss
Serious side effects of telotristat
Along with its needed effects, telotristat may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

- severe stomach pain

General adverse events
The most commonly reported side effects included abdominal pain, increased GGT, nausea, and/or headaches.[Ref]
Gastrointestinal
- Very common (10% or more): Abdominal pain (up to 26%), nausea (up to 13%)
- Common (1% to 10%): Abdominal distention, constipation, flatulence
- Frequency not reported: Gastrointestinal pain, lower abdominal pain, serious constipation, upper abdominal pain[Ref]
Hepatic
- Very common (10% or more): Increased GGT (up to 11%)
- Common (1% to 10%): ALT increased, AST increased, blood alkaline phosphatase increased
- Frequency not reported: GGT, liver enzymes increased, liver function test abnormal[Ref]
Nervous system
- Very common (10% or more): Headache (up to 11%)[Ref]
Psychiatric
- Common (1% to 10%): Depressed mood, depression
- Frequency not reported: Decreased interest[Ref]
