If you are currently being treated or are going to begin treatment with ipilimumab, you should let your doctor know before receiving varicella virus vaccine. You may be at risk for developing an infection from varicella virus vaccine or have a reduced response to varicella virus vaccine, although this has not been studied. If you have recently received varicella virus vaccine, your doctor may choose to postpone treatment with ipilimumab for a few weeks, or you may need to wait for a period of time after completing your treatment with ipilimumab before receiving varicella virus vaccine. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
