2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- kava
- Vyalev (foscarbidopa / foslevodopa)
Interactions between your drugs
kava foslevodopa
Applies to: kava, Vyalev (foscarbidopa / foslevodopa)
Ask your doctor before using foslevodopa together with kava. Using these medications together may cause foslevodopa to be less effective. If you are receiving treatment for Parkinson's disease you should preferably avoid kava, since it may worsen your condition. If kava is used, you should be alerted to the possibility of excessive sedation and monitored for a decreased response to foslevodopa. If your doctor prescribes these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food/lifestyle interactions
foslevodopa food/lifestyle
Applies to: Vyalev (foscarbidopa / foslevodopa)
Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of foslevodopa such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with foslevodopa. You may experience reduced effectiveness of foslevodopa in the presence of foods or enteral (tube) feedings with a high protein content. This may make the symptoms of Parkinson's disease worse. Talk with your doctor or nutrition counselor about the best foods to eat while you are taking this medication. Contact your doctor if your condition changes.
