Drug Interaction Report
2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- tocainide
- Xyralid RC (hydrocortisone / lidocaine / psyllium topical)
Interactions between your drugs
tocainide lidocaine topical
Applies to: tocainide, Xyralid RC (hydrocortisone / lidocaine / psyllium topical)
Some of the medication in lidocaine topical may be absorbed into the bloodstream following local application. Using lidocaine topical together with tocainide may increase the risk of side effects of both drugs. Although serious side effects are not very common with topically applied medications because only limited amounts of the medication generally get absorbed into the bloodstream from the skin, they can sometimes occur. Contact your doctor if your condition changes or you experience chest pain, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, nervousness, dizziness or tremors. You may need more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food/lifestyle interactions
psyllium food/lifestyle
Applies to: Xyralid RC (hydrocortisone / lidocaine / psyllium topical)
Psyllium may interact with other medications if given at the same time. This can cause your other medications to become less effective. In general, all oral medications should be administered at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after dosing of psyllium. Take psyllium with a full glass (at least 8 ounces) of cool water or another liquid. Taking psyllium without enough liquid may cause it to swell in the throat and cause choking.
Therapeutic duplication warnings
No duplication warnings were found for your selected drugs.
Therapeutic duplication warnings are only returned when drugs within the same group exceed the recommended therapeutic duplication maximum.
Drug Interaction Classification
Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.
Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan.
