Usual Adult Dose for Macular Degeneration
15 mg (0.1 mL of 150 mg/mL solution) intravitreal injection to each affected eye once every 25 to 60 days
Comments:
- Monitor the patient for elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) using tonometry before and after the intravitreal injection; if needed, ocular hypotensive medication can be given to lower the IOP.
- Administer adequate anesthesia and a broad-spectrum topical microbicide to disinfect the periocular skin, eyelid, and ocular surface prior to the injection.
- Do not use the filter needle for injection.
- Each vial should only be used for the treatment of a single eye.
Use: For the treatment of geographic atrophy (GA) secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Ocular or periocular infections; active intraocular inflammation
Safety and efficacy have not been established in patients younger than 18 years.

Administration advice:
- This drug must be administered by a trained physician.
- Store the vial at room temperature for at least 15 minutes prior to injection but no longer than 8 hours.
- Administer injection under aseptic conditions using surgical hand disinfection, sterile gloves, a sterile drape, and a sterile eyelid speculum (or equivalent) immediately after the dose preparation.
- Do not use the filter needle for injection.
- Do not use if:
- particulates, cloudiness, or discoloration are visible.
- the vial shows signs of damage or tampering.
- if the expiration date has passed.
Storage requirements:
- Refrigerate between 2C to 8C (36F to 46F). Store the vial in the original carton to protect from light.
- Do not use beyond the expiration date.
- Do not shake the vial.

Patient advice:
- Neovascular AMD, endophthalmitis, and retinal detachments may develop with the use of this drug.
- Seek immediate care from an ophthalmologist if the eye becomes red, sensitive to light, painful, or change in vision such as flashing lights, blurred vision, or metamorphopsia occurs.
- Temporary visual disturbances might be experienced; do not drive or use machinery until visual function has sufficiently recovered.
