Cevimeline Disease Interactions
There are 5 disease interactions with cevimeline:
Cevimeline (Includes cevimeline) ↔ cardiovascular disease
Severe Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applies to: Cardiovascular Disease, Angina Pectoris, Myocardial Infarction
Cevimeline may alter cardiac conduction and/or heart rate. Patients with significant cardiovascular disease may be unable to compensate for transient changes in hemodynamics or rhythm induced by cevimeline. Cevimeline should be used with caution and under close medical supervision in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease.
Cevimeline (Includes cevimeline) ↔ glaucoma
Severe Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applies to: Uveitis, Glaucoma (Narrow Angle)
Cevimeline is contraindicated when miosis is undesirable, such in patients with narrow-angle (angle-closure) glaucoma or in acute iritis.
Cevimeline (Includes cevimeline) ↔ pulmonary disease
Severe Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applies to: Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
The use of cevimeline is contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled asthma. Cevimeline can potentially increase airway resistance, bronchial smooth muscle tone, and bronchial secretions. This agent should be administered with caution and with close medical supervision in patients with controlled asthma, chronic bronchitis, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Cevimeline (Includes cevimeline) ↔ cholelithiasis
Moderate Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applies to: Cholelithiasis
Cevimeline should be administered with caution in patients with a history of cholelithiasis. Contractions of the gallbladder or biliary smooth muscle may precipitate complications such as cholecystitis, cholangitis and biliary obstruction.
Cevimeline (Includes cevimeline) ↔ nephrolithiasis
Moderate Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility. Applies to: Nephrolithiasis
Cevimeline should be administered with caution to patients with a history of nephrolithiasis. An increase in the ureteral smooth muscle tone may precipitate renal colic or ureteral reflux in patients with nephrolithiasis.

Drug Interaction Classification
Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.
Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan.
