Uses for cenegermin-bkbj

Cenegermin-bkbj eye drops is used to treat neurotrophic keratitis (disease of the cornea of the eye).

This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Allergies

Pediatric

Appropriate studies performed to date have not demonstrated pediatric-specific problems that would limit the usefulness of cenegermin-bkbj eye drops in the pediatric population.

Geriatric

Appropriate studies performed to date have not demonstrated geriatric-specific problems that would limit the usefulness of cenegermin-bkbj eye drops in the elderly.

Interactions with Medicines

Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases two different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur. If you are also using other eye medicines, use them at least 15 minutes before or after using cenegermin-bkbj. Use cenegermin-bkbj 15 minutes before using any eye ointment, gel, or drop that is thick.

Dosing

The dose of this medicine will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average doses of this medicine. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so.

The amount of medicine that you take depends on the strength of the medicine. Also, the number of doses you take each day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are using the medicine.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of this medicine, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.

Storage

Keep out of the reach of children.

Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.

Ask your healthcare professional how you should dispose of any medicine you do not use.

Store the unopened vial in its original carton in the refrigerator for up to 14 days. Keep the opened vial in the refrigerator or at room temperature for up to 12 hours. Do not shake the vial. Throw away any unused medicine after 12 hours.

Precautions while using cenegermin-bkbj

It is very important that your eye doctor (ophthalmologist) check your or your child's progress at regular visits to make sure the medicine is working properly and to check for unwanted effects.

This medicine may cause blurred vision or eye pain. Do not drive or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.

If your symptoms do not improve within a few days or if they become worse, check with your eye doctor (ophthalmologist) right away.

Side Effects of cenegermin-bkbj

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine.
