"I started taking it mid-January, a month ago, at a dosage of 250 mg tablet 3x daily with meals, as noted on the high production value packaging which labels each tablet by time and day. My diarrhea went away within three days, and bowel movements since have been utterly normal, ordinary, and reliable. Amazing change. Vigilant hydration is advised, I’d say required, to ward off side effects. My flatulence is now off the charts—a significantly bigger cloud—as is awareness of gas traveling in my GI tract, sometimes causing pain and sensitivity. I’ve gained 8 pounds in 4 weeks, a known side effect. At that rate, I could weigh 208 lbs by Dec (5’6” currently slight-framed female). My doctor is aware that I’d like to change to 2 tablets/day to reduce the gas. In three months' time, blood tests will indicate if it’s also lowered my 5-HIAA level. The initial $2,000 bill was a shock, however, Medicare’s cap that holds it to that limit ensures no more payment is due. A huge relief!"

"Prior to starting Xermelo, I was experiencing carcinoid syndrome diarrhea at least 5-7 times a day. Along with taking Creon and cholestyramine, I had to be very careful with my diet. Within 2 weeks of starting Xermelo, that frequency went down to 4-5. I have been on Xermelo now for 11 weeks and the frequency is now 2-4. My stools are also solid most of the time. I do have some flatulence, but that existed prior to taking Xermelo. I have tried higher amine foods that I previously avoided and have not had any negative effects. I find the benefits far outweigh the regimen of taking Xermelo 3 times a day. It really is not difficult to follow and well worth the effort! I feel better physically and mentally."

"This is a life-changing medicine. A minimum number of days a month I am constipated, but easy to remedy with extra water and prune juice. I can enjoy my meals without worrying about a toilet nearby, body trembles, or colon cramps. I am happy and grateful to have been prescribed Xermelo."

"I started out with a regular dosage of 250 mg three times a day, but after 4 or 5 days, total constipation, so I had to reduce it to one twice daily. Now, one half tablet twice because there is much less problem. Side effects of flatulence and painful rectal spasms, especially between 1 am and 4 am."
