Rofecoxib for Pain "I suffered with tendonitis in my heels for years. My doctor tried several drugs, with little or no help, until Vioxx. It changed my life. I am currently in pain all the time, and I would take Vioxx today if I could get it."

Rofecoxib for Rheumatoid Arthritis "My husband suffers from rheumatoid arthritis. When he was prescribed Vioxx, he was able to walk without pain, participate in sports again, and was overall happy. He's in his 40s and is now suffering miserably. He's tried almost every other drug out there, and not one of them has had the same effect as Vioxx. People should have been upfront with their doctors and advised them of any other medications they were taking or herbal supplements they may have been taking. Physicians and their PAs should have been investigated and their practices, not Merck. Talk about quality of life - wouldn't you rather have five great years than live the rest of your life miserably."

Rofecoxib for Osteoarthritis "I took Vioxx, and it helped my arthritis pain tremendously when nothing else would work, including prescription painkillers. I suffer from hemophilia, severe type A. Vioxx works in such a way that being hemophiliac is overlooked by the manufacturer. The reason it works so well for me is that hemophilia thins the blood, this decreases the risk of heart attack by blood clots, whereas normal people who clot correctly would possibly have a side effect, but for people like me with hemophilia, Vioxx helped."

Rofecoxib for Rheumatoid Arthritis "If I had to choose between looking like I did when I was 20, flat tummy, great skin, or Vioxx at 53... I would take Vioxx, no questions asked. I only took it once every 3-4 days, and I swear I felt like I could fly. No joint pain. If I could have the Vioxx pills they recalled that were in storage, I'd say yes. I think for those who suffered bad effects, eh!! Maybe every day or age may have been a factor... recalled in 2004. My last pill I used for a mid-vacation in 2012, it still worked. I had no bad side effects. I didn't get high or sick, and I had only taken it about a year before it was pulled. I wish they had given notice, I would have gotten an RX to last me for the next 50 years. I have not had any relief from pain since my last dose... smh... please give me back Vioxx. I could lead a life that doesn't make me be in pain, hate to roll over in bed, or work, grocery shop, etc."

Rofecoxib for Pain "Once, a little over 5 years ago, I had a pinched nerve in my neck. The chiropractor didn't help, and 6 Vicodin didn't touch the pain. I took one Vioxx, I actually felt the swelling, inflammation, and pain leaving my body, never to return. That was one wonderful miracle drug. I'm having a similar problem now for 2 weeks in my upper leg, hip, and around to my lower back. Two trips to the chiropractor, pain medication, Celebrex, muscle relaxers, tranquilizers, and Cymbalta are not helping. I sure wish I had just one Vioxx pill to make this similar problem leave my body."

Rofecoxib for Pain "I took Vioxx as an anti-inflammatory. Just wonderful! The med co. didn't do their due diligence on this one. If Vioxx was limited to those without heart health issues, many would be back doing what Vioxx enabled: playing the piano, laying sheetrock, concrete, etc. Celebrex comes in as a strong 7, whereas Vioxx hit 10."

Rofecoxib for Period Pain "I used to get terrible period pain. I was taking Advil like M&Ms, and it was wrecking my stomach. I tried Vioxx, and what a difference. A regular dose of Vioxx would keep me pain-free for 12 hours, and no GI symptoms. Then they pulled it from the market. So I took Celebrex, which was better than Advil but still required around 1000 mg/day to keep my menstrual pain down. I finally had a hysterectomy at 43, which might have been avoided if Vioxx had been kept on the market."

Rofecoxib for Migraine "However, within four hours of taking Vioxx, my kidney started to bleed. It wasn't great amounts, but the RBCs would fall down to the bottom of the toilet. I experienced extreme back pain in my kidney area, and the blood (hematuria) stayed present in my urine for days. It was at first seen with the naked eye, but after a few days it was no longer visible to the naked eye, but visible with a microscope. I had no hx of kidney problems, no high BP, and no CVA. But, in 2012, I experienced high blood pressure due to pain, and I had a CVA. I am now treated for high BP. I have no doubt as an RN that Vioxx caused damage to my kidney that just didn't surface for a while, which in turn caused the CVA, after all, there are many places to hide in the kidney."

Rofecoxib for Pain "My family doctor gave me Vioxx for back pain. It was amazing. I was in my early 20s then. I am 45 now and like to dream about how well it worked. I have looked for other ways to get it. I would take it no matter the risk to have some of my life back. My rheumatologist has prescribed Celebrex since my first appointment with him. It does not work well. I am a mess and will likely die of a stroke or similar problem, and that is because of the disease. What I need is something that can help me be like a person again. Vioxx is probably never going to be available, but I would go to the moon to have it. I am a free person who lives in a free country, so why don't I have a choice? I can't believe that medical marijuana is available and Vioxx is not."

Rofecoxib for Pain "To me, Vioxx was the best medicine I have ever taken. At the time, I had lived with a damaged knee since I was 11 years old. I also live with L4-L5 herniated discs. Vioxx made me so very happy, as it took all my aches and pains away. I understand it was for the benefit of the people. It was a sad day for me, though. Wish it could be modified and return, as people such as me found it to be a wonder drug."

Rofecoxib for Migraine "I miss this drug, Vioxx. I cried when they took it off the market. My dr warned me ahead of time it was gonna be pulled, so he wrote a huge script for it, and I had it filled before it all got recalled. So I had Vioxx 2 years after it was all off the market. It was the ONLY thing I've EVER had, including oxy, that has worked on migraines. I suffer chronic daily migraines, and this let me function like a normal non-migraine person. Also worked great on incidental injuries like when I broke all my toes and separated the 1st joints, controlled pain and swelling nicely as well as the migraine. The people ending up with the nasty side effects, which were listed, were generally in the older demographic and already prone to those anyways. Coulda left the drug for us younguns. I was 22 when this was off the market. Wish they'd bring it back."

Rofecoxib for Pain "I have had severe neck pain and couldn't move my left arm for a week and couldn't get relief with anything. I was given Vioxx by my doctor. It was a miracle drug and helped in a day or two. It worked great for me. Celebrex is similar and is still on the market, and I take it now."

Rofecoxib for Osteoarthritis "When I took Vioxx, it felt like when I was younger. No pain and stiffness. Since it was taken off the market, I've gained over 100 lbs. I do road construction and am thrown around in the truck all day long because we drive where good roads haven't been built yet. I'm in agony by the time I get home, so for obvious reasons, I don't want to and can't do what I loved to keep me in great shape when I was on Vioxx. Which was hike, walk, bike, swim, canoe, etc. Now that I've gained all the weight, I have high blood pressure. I eat Ibuprofen like it's candy, so I got diverticulitis. Bring it back. I want to love life again."

For Osteoarthritis "I started taking Vioxx for period pain (50 mg), later, it was recommended for my osteoarthritis. It was the best medication for my medical issues. It did the job it was supposed to do, but I started experiencing a feeling of unbalance, and my blood pressure had elevated. I took myself off the Vioxx due to my elevation in my blood pressure. I didn't agree with my Dr. that my body had to get used to the medication. I'm now stuck with taking blood pressure medication every day. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't."

Rofecoxib for Rheumatoid Arthritis "I took Vioxx for years, and it was amazing! I still have not found anything that works half as well! I would be more than willing to sign anything as long as I could have it again! I had none of the side effects, and it was amazing! Birth control has more side effects than foods. I'm really starting to think that it worked so well it would have put some medications out of business! Are they even trying to make it safer? It is a tragedy that something was taken off the market that helped so many. They want me to sign off on the COVID shot that isn't working, isn't approved, and has more side effects! Bring back Vioxx, PLEASE!"
