Lorazepam for Panic Disorder "I was prescribed Ativan sublingual 0.5 mg as needed for panic attacks. It did not do anything for me, usually, my panic attacks come at night while I'm sleeping. So I tried it, and honestly, it didn't do anything, and on top of that, I couldn't sleep after taking it."

For Sedation "Works okay for sleep, but did nothing for psychotic agitation for me. I refused it, but unfortunately, I was under a section, so they injected me. Three hours later, I'm still wide awake."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "Doctor prescribed Ativan super willy-nilly because I've been dealing with panic attacks and told me to take a 1 mg tablet when I need to. Tried a 1 mg tablet while panicking, and the effect is just unpleasant. I definitely feel that there are fewer 'voices' in my head; everything is much quieter. But I'm also extremely drowsy, so much so that I doubt I'd be able to take Ativan at work (where my anxiety actually occurs). I'm also having strange muscle pains; just feels like a really lame weed high. I won't try it again."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "Used at a funeral, supposed to take 0.5 mgs, did not work at all. Took another, and another, and another. Maybe my doctor sucks, or maybe Ativan sucks. Do yourself a favor and get some Xanax if needed for occasional anxiety."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I've been using Ativan for anxiety and insomnia for the last 5 or so years. Lately, I have been having side effects after taking only 1-2 pills at night for sleep. It does help me fall asleep, but the next day I wake up nauseous. And I'm nauseous all day. Another weird side effect that it seems no one else has experienced is that my skin feels weird, like my fingers feel like there is a coating on them... It's hard to describe, but it happens every time I take Ativan. I get no side effects like this from Valium or Xanax. I hope my doctor will switch for me."

For Anxiety "I've been taking lorazepam for many years, but usually not more than once a week for really bad anxiety. The problem is it's addictive, and you want and need to take more to get the relief you were getting before. So the more you take, the higher the tolerance, and you need to keep going up and taking it more often. Another problem is the half-life for lorazepam is between 4 and 8 hours. This means you should really take it 3 times per day. If you don't, you start getting reflex anxiety. After the dosage wears out, your anxiety goes up. This was what I experienced, and I went through the worst time in my 17 years. Eight weeks ago, I stopped taking lorazepam and switched to diazepam to taper off. I suggest staying off this drug."

Lorazepam for Nausea/Vomiting "This med was given as anti-anxiety medication. Straight knocked me out an hour after taking. Girlfriend took it. She somehow functioned to go to work. I was completely unable to cut hair, even unable to get out of the chair. Anxiety was gone. And you should only take this drug short term, then wean off it. My girlfriend's doctor doubled her dosage from 1 mg to 2 mg, and without it, she completely freaked out, yelling, screaming at me. She completely changes her personality if without it. When she stopped taking it, it was like she was coming off heroin. It was a worse situation coming off it. The doctor did not lower her dose slowly, nor did he give her something that could help her come off it. Mixed with Cymbalta? Even worse. Mass hallucinations, both bad drugs."

For Anxiety "I took 2 mg one night at the ER because I was having a panic attack, and it worked quickly. But tonight I took 1 mg before going to the mall on Black Friday because I knew it would be crowded and I'd get overwhelmed, so I took 1 mg in advance before I went, and it did nothing for me whatsoever. I left overwhelmed and very irritated after 15 minutes. I'm home now and feeling very irritated by the whole experience."

For Anxiety "I took the first 0.5 mg lorazepam, and it got me super sleepy in the evening while watching TV. Lucky it was night because I was zonked. The next day, I right away experienced withdrawal, yuck. I hate that feeling. I would have had to take another one just to get rid of the withdrawal from the first one. And maybe after a few days, the withdrawal symptoms would settle down, but I didn't think I should be getting withdrawal immediately like that. And I certainly didn't want to think about going through it in the future, even stronger symptoms. So the first one was all I took. I wised up quickly and didn't continue taking them. I felt dizzy and crappy for two or three days just from that one pill. Unreal."

For Panic Disorder "I started taking this medication at 0.5 mg and thought I was okay. I had to get the dose upped to 1.0 mg to sleep, but what has been happening is I cry all the time, am angry and sad. I cry most of the day, every day! I am having what a doctor called PTSD from seeing my mom pass 2 years ago and am dealing with anger issues there still, but now all I do is cry! Does anyone else feel this? I feel so alone! Rose"

For Anxiety "WITHDRAWAL HELL! I was prescribed this medication after extreme anxiety that was not getting better with citalopram. I was only given 2 by GP (I am in the UK), and then it worked so well on my anxiety I went back for more. They shouldn't have prescribed me 2 months' worth because when I was told I wasn't allowed anymore, my body went into meltdown. Over three weeks later, I'm still suffering from the withdrawal symptoms: severe anxiety, insomnia, spaced out feeling, double vision, tremors, sweating, auditory hallucinations! Awful, awful, awful. It may seem great when it's helping you, but when you stop, be prepared to give up your life... This has been the worst time of my life, hands down, and I'm three weeks on and only marginally better."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "This drug is highly addictive, and due to it being short-acting, it is nearly impossible to wean off of this drug in a conventional manner. It is very effective in relieving anxiety, but should not be taken for any extended period of time or you will be hooked into an agonizing withdrawal. To get off of this short-acting drug without the painful withdrawal, switch to a long-acting benzo like diazepam that is available in multiple and larger doses and can be cut into smaller amounts to wean off gradually."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "Highly addictive medicine. Very angry I was put on this. I have worse anxiety and hand, feet, and head tremors. Docs give out benzos too easily. Then they do not want to help you get off them. It is awful. They treat you like a pill seeker instead of slowly weaning you off. More doctors need to use the Ashton Method of withdrawal. Taking someone off benzos too quickly can induce anger, crying spells, depression, and even seizures. Too many doctors do not want to help patients get off these pills, and it is wrong."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I received a shot last week of this at the hospital. It was great at first and was working great for my severe panic attacks, then about 45 minutes later, I started seeing Mickey Mouse bumper boats and pink pigs standing in cake. The hospital didn't do anything for me, and this is considered a severe side effect. They sent me home, and then I slept for 36 hours and had a migraine for 2 days after. I imagine it works for others, but not for me, way too many side effects when I have 2 kids I have to take care of."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I have an intense fear of going to the dentist, so they prescribed Ativan to me. It didn't do a single thing. I dissolved it under my tongue, as instructed by the pharmacist's note. Half an hour later, nothing. An hour later, nothing. Even now, 8.5 hours after taking it, nothing. It didn't work on me. I was quite upset. The only thing it did was make my cheeks feel slightly poofier than usual. And maybe dizzy once while walking down some stairs a few hours ago."

Lorazepam for Sedation "I took Ativan for a plane ride because I have a phobia of flying. I woke up in a hotel in Florida with no memory of landing (but the full memory of the terror-inducing flight) and no memory of my first day there. I managed to piece together my activities that day through family, who said I had been acting normally. While the amnesia was annoying, this drug had no serious negative effects to my health. I take hydroxyzine now. It works a lot better for the fear of heights. Two family members of mine have taken Ativan for decades, and they also have these lapses in memory, though they are unaware of it."

For Anxiety "It is many years ago that I was prescribed this medication by a leading Harley Street psychiatrist whom I will not name. It is effective for anxiety, but the downside was just too scary. I saw many movies over the months with a group of friends but had no memory the next day. My brain had literally been wiped on a daily basis. Luckily, another psychiatrist stopped me taking what he described as 'this poison.' I still shudder at what I took into my body."

For Anxiety "So I had to take some Ativan for the first time yesterday, as I was having a persistent anxiety attack throughout the day. 0.5 mg under the tongue. Now, mind you, this is my first time ever trying this drug, so maybe that's part of why my reaction was as it was. Almost immediately, I felt a slight heaviness on the body, though the anxiety wasn't really affected. I'd explain the effect as feeling more like a Band-Aid to stop the anxiety from continuing back into another attack, but it didn't get rid of the general anxiety, and I found at times it actually felt like it enhanced it. Ended up laying down to go to sleep. Woke up the next morning fairly depressed with stomach issues. I'd say I'd recommend this only on the worst of days. While it did help keep me from persisting into my fourth anxiety attack, the anxiety itself didn't go away."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I've been on Ativan 0.5 mg a little over 1 month, and I don't like it. I'm in a constant fog and feel like my body is battling itself internally. I'm a zombie but can't sleep, I feel like I took uppers and a tranquilizer at the same time. I have the body jerking side effect, and when I tried to stop the meds, I felt crazy. So I'm taking half, and it was better for 2 days, and now I'm in a fog again. I am not myself, I can't function, and work is nearly impossible. Helps anxiety, but for me, not worth it."
