For Insomnia "In an hour, I felt speedy. I was up all night, like I had a late cup of coffee. Three weeks later, I tried it again. Speedy, jittery, all night, no sleep."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I took lorazepam for 19 days at .5 mg as needed. I was taking them in the afternoon around 4:30. The doctor only gave me 20 pills for anxiety and sent me home. While taking them, I was feeling even worse, I couldn't sleep, I would wake up shaking and scared, and couldn't eat until I took the pill. I decided to stop taking them because I was getting more anxiety and wired thoughts and was shaking all day. So, I quit cold turkey - I didn't know I was to taper off. On the second day of not taking it, I couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, walking around feeling like I'm going crazy, a lot of anxiety attacks and panic attacks. I don't feel joy or happiness. The only thing I could think of is I'm having withdrawals. I stopped taking it on December 9, 2015, it is now December 29, 2015."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "Highly addictive, caused severe panic attacks when trying to go off. Got this reaction after only 2 days of 1-2 for sleep. Very dangerous drug. Helps you sleep, but nearly impossible to stop! Most need rehab, was one of the meds Heath Ledger had in his system. Tammy Faye took up to 25-30 a day! Stay away from this drug!?"

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I took 0.5 mg Ativan 2 times a day for 14 days. I noticed I wasn't getting the same anti-anxiety effect, so I decided to stop taking it. I figured it had only been 2 weeks, so stopping should not have been a problem. I then proceeded into 11 days of HELL. The first 2 days were not too bad, but every day progressively got worse. The insomnia was the worst. I got to the point where I would dread the night. And then the nightmares started. They were horribly dark. I thought I was going to die. I finally would take 0.5 mg every other or every third night just to get some sleep. It took me months to find a doctor who understood how to get off the Ativan. I'm now on a 2.5% taper (40 weeks). I'm on week 9. Not fun. DO NOT TAKE IT."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I had a scary adverse reaction with Ativan. I was given 1 mg in the hospital orally for the very bad anxiety I was having. About an hour and a half later, I began getting the strangest, scariest hallucinations, both visual and sensory. I don't know if this was an allergic reaction, but I never had this problem with any other benzodiazepine. Please be cautious with Ativan in particular because it altered the functioning of my brain (it wore off the next day)."

For Panic Disorder "The drug works amazingly, except one HUGE problem. You will get addicted. I am not a druggie and took all my medications as prescribed. I went off my medications 19 months ago and still feel like living hell. Panic attacks are hell, but at least they end. Imagine living that way nonstop for 19 months with no end in sight. The only thing that has helped me is drug-free treatments, which are becoming more and more mainstream. Please, please, please do not take any form of benzos. I think they are bad and will destroy your life, taking away your health, your sanity, and your close relationships."

Lorazepam for Insomnia "I am going on a 14-hour plane trip and wanted a sedative. I hate flying, especially on long flights across the world. I got Ativan. I took one (.5) before bedtime before I left home to see how it worked and how strong it was. Sadly, I got zip out of it. I am super sensitive to meds. I take an aspirin, and I know in 5 minutes I am 'medicated.' So I am majorly disappointed. Now I am even more anxious about my trip. Ugh."

For Anxiety "I had a very alarming adverse reaction to Ativan (lorazepam) that I never had with any other benzodiazepine that I'd like to share. My doctor prescribed me 0.5 mg of Ativan for my anxiety that I've had since childhood. Within an hour of taking my first dose, I began to experience scary hallucinations, delusions, and paranoia. This never happened whenever I took Xanax, Valium, or Klonopin, so I don't know what made Ativan different. Not only did Ativan increase my anxiety, but it also caused these disturbing adverse side effects! I personally did not have a good experience with this drug and threw the rest away. Please be very careful with it!"

Lorazepam for Insomnia "This didn't help my insomnia at all. If anything, it makes my mind think even more. I have even more trouble sleeping than when I was on Elavil 25 mg or Zopiclone 7.5 mg. It's frustrating since I'm only 20 years old, and I've been suffering from insomnia for 2 and a half years now."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I have acute panic disorder. I was on SSRIs for a while, but they did not work for me to stop the attacks. My doctor decided to put me on Lorazepam. It did stop my panic attacks very well, and I started to feel good for a while. I was taking 0.5mg every day. About a year later, I developed a faster heart rate during my panic attacks, and I started seeing my pulse pounding on my neck. I still used it and thought that it was probably a new health condition. After going to several cardiac tests, nothing was found wrong with my heart. I read a message on a discussion board one day. Ativan may cause rapid heart rate, a pounding pulse in the neck and chest. I stopped taking it and switched to Xanax. All my symptoms went away."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "My elderly dad was prescribed a low dose of Ativan for anxiety. Within 2 weeks, he started having auditory hallucinations and could not sleep because the 'walls were talking to him.' After he passed every physical test in an emergency visit to the local ER-from a cat scan to blood work and everything in between, the psychiatrist on duty matter-of-factly told me that Ativan has been known to cause delirium in elderly patients."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "The only word I can use to describe how I feel after taking only 0.25 mg of Ativan is 'weird.' It has ramped up my anxiety, but I still feel a calming sensation on top of it. It's making focusing harder, and I'm a bit uncoordinated. I expected some side effects, but I definitely didn't expect it to make my anxiety worse. It's really unpleasant."

For Borderline Personality Disorder "I usually tolerate this class of medications pretty well, but not this one. Does it make me drowsy? Lower heart rate? Yes. My instability gets cranked up to 11, though, and I stop making any sense to the people around me."

For Anxiety "I took it on and off for a few years, and it was so helpful for me; just started it again after 3 months, and the Watson's (yes, they do vary), which I took before had a completely different effect; very unpleasant, so I discarded them. I've received since then a different generic (Leading Pharma), which actually gave me anxiety. Something has changed. I received it in the hospital (IV), and that was not the case."

Lorazepam for Anxiety "I literally took one dose of 1.5 mg of lorazepam after being prescribed the drug for panic attacks and anxiety. It worked for the panic attack, but since that first dose I haven't slept in 3 days. Reflecting on it now, I would have rather just gone through the full-on panic attack. This drug is no joke."

For Anxiety "Lorazepam. Doctor gave me this at the hospital to deal with anxiety. Got a prescription for 8 tablets. I took the first tablet the following night, and that was the worst night of my life. I was dreaming while awake, afraid to sleep for fear I would die in my sleep, having to use the fan in the winter because I was hot. Took 3 more tablets at different times and had the same negative results. Sleepless, with my heart pounding, I took a spoonful of Buckley's, which calmed me down, and I was able to sleep. Meantime, I flushed the other 4 tablets down the drain. I now do my Buckley routine every time I have anxiety. I would rather be addicted to Buckley's."

For Anxiety "I have recently dropped back from 120 lorazepam tablets (1 mg) a month, Ativan, to 60 a month. Today, I woke up with my chest pounding, head sweating, or a full-blown panic attack! Should I get in touch with my doc that prescribed the Ativan or simply wait until it passes?"
