For Anxiety "I was prescribed 50 mg at night for insomnia. It really does help the insomnia. However, I have been suffering from relentless panic attacks non-stop all day. The night before yesterday, I didn't take it because I forgot and didn't want to take it too late and be groggy in the morning, and yesterday I felt great all day, not a hint of a panic attack. Last night, I took it and today, sweating palms and panic attack and mental fog all day. I think for me, it's causing panic attacks the following day and making me less productive at work. I'm going to talk about it with the doctor and see what they say."

For Sedation "Works well if you have insomnia. I take 100 mg, though. I have trouble focusing the next day. I have to take clonidine at night with it to help with my ADHD and focusing. I’m hoping to get off hydroxyzine even though it helps with sleep."

For Anxiety "My doctor is stopping all benzodiazepines and opiates in his office. I would take .5 of Xanax as needed. They prescribed 25 mg of hydroxyzine instead for my anxiety. I took it once and it did nothing for me. A couple of days later, I thought I’d try 50 mg, and within 15 minutes, I felt some relief. I took it later as prescribed, and I got so foggy and anxious! Totally so disappointed! I tried yesterday and today at work. I was so panicky and confused that I ended up on the floor today trying to do stretching and muscle relaxation. My face was bright red, and my eyes were glassy. They thought I needed an ambulance. I did my stretches, etc., and tried to go back to work, but it was still the same. I finally said to myself I need relief! I took a benzodiazepine I still had from my last prescription, and within 15 minutes, I felt some relief. I could think clearly and relaxed a bit. I can’t see myself taking it again since it did nothing for me for my anxiety except for that first time."

For Anxiety "I started this in conjunction with Zoloft to treat my debilitating nighttime anxiety. I started with 25 mg at bed, the first night and immediately went to sleep worry-free. Woke up the next morning late and was foggy-brained the next day. Now I only take half a pill before bed if I'm wound up and need help to sleep. Works perfectly. I no longer have anxiety, though the Zoloft is likely the contributor."

For Sedation "I was prescribed 50 mg at bedtime to help with difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, and to reduce anxiety. The first time I took it, I slept for 13 hours straight and was so sleepy/fatigued all day after waking. I've tried taking it a couple of times since then, but same problem. It knocks me out cold and I sleep, but I have zero energy the next day and feel groggy for hours after waking. I tried taking half the dosage, but the morning hangover and daytime exhaustion were still awful. I am better off just taking Benadryl because then I'm not wiped out the next day. I would only take this again if I desperately needed sleep (and Benadryl wasn't cutting it) and didn't have to get up and do anything the next day. I like how easily it knocks me out but can't handle the zombie side effects the next day."

For Allergic Urticaria "I can't believe my doctor did this to me. I kept talking about how I hated the drowsy feeling that I had all day if I had to take Benadryl at night because of my eczema-induced hives. Three Benadryl didn't do to me what this stuff did. I took it last night because I was starting to get a little itchy, and I've been a stinkin' zombie all day! I have slept my whole Saturday away! I am so furious that I put the pills into the garbage disposal and will be changing doctors. Why don't they listen instead of pretending to listen? Don't take this stuff, definitely don't drive for several days after you've taken it! I've been taking several Allegra at a time, and it's taken away the itching, and I've been willing and able to complete daily tasks."

Hydroxyzine for Sedation "Took for chronic insomnia. It relaxed me a bit but not enough to sleep. Intensely foggy and hung over all the next day on a low dose. Immediately discontinued."

Hydroxyzine for Anxiety "It made me very sleepy. I didn't like feeling so tired. With other medications for anxiety, I had more sense of calmness rather than just feeling loopy and tired. I won't use it again."
