"I received my first series of Orthovisc injections in November 2007. My doctor told me it would last between 9-12 months. It is now June of 2009 and I can rarely tell which knee is the 'bad' one. I have returned to playing indoor volleyball for the past two years with no pain. Highly recommend this product."

"I had my first injection of Orthovisc on 08 June 2009. My next scheduled dates are 15 June 09 and 22nd June 09. I have had 3 series of the Supartz and I can tell a big difference in my knee. I am out of pain as of the first injection. No side effects. I am glad to be getting only 3 injections as opposed to the five of Supartz. I have osteoarthritis in both knees and the left one is the worst. The doctor wants to do knee replacement on that one, however, at age 67 in Oct 2009, my medical doctor does not want me to have the surgery yet. I am very pleased today, 10 June 09, with the results and pain-free from my first injection of Orthovisc. Perhaps this is the answer and Medicare will pay for the injections every six (6) months. So I am looking on the positive side."

"I had difficulty walking due to severe knee pain. Since receiving Orthovisc, I have remained active, can go dancing, walk the dog, hike. I call it my miracle shot. I realize it won’t work forever, but am grateful for the help so far."

"I first received three injections 2 years ago. I experienced instant pain relief, and it lasted until recently. I immediately made an appointment to receive another round. After one injection, pain is 99% gone. I highly recommend this product."

"I’ve been receiving Orthovisc/Monovisc injections for about 9 years due to osteoarthritis in my left knee. My NP said my last MRI looks terrible, but I’ve been adding bike riding 3 days/week to my exercise regimen. I’m thankful I can still do what I can do! I’m a 66-year-old female and plan on keeping getting these injections as long as I can."

"At 42 years old, I have the knees of a 70-year-old. I've had several years of cortisone injections. They only lasted a month. I was excited to get the gels approved! 1st Orthovisc injection in. 1 knee is fine. Other knee not so much. Was hard to walk at 1st. As the day progressed, it got easier to walk. Hoping it all works itself out after all 3 injections are done. I am hopeful. Orthovisc helped my mother delay her knee replacement."

"Three years ago, Orthovisc improved my life. I hadn't realized how sedentary I had become from the pain. I found that walking every day was needed to keep the knee supple. In the past year, the pain has returned and increased, so I'll be having the injections again."

"I’m a 70-year-old woman who, a year ago, could not walk down stairs normally or bend my knee 90° because of a bone-on-bone patella. I first had a cortisone injection, which lasted about a month, and then went to three injections of Orthovisc. Because the doc first numbed my knee with lidocaine, I barely felt the injections under my kneecap. The relief has been tremendous! I must admit I did this in conjunction with physical therapy to increase range of motion and a lot of overall strength training. So I’m not sure what has been the most beneficial. All I know is I can now go down stairs normally, walk without pain, have better range of motion, and can run agility again with my dog. Thank goodness for Medicare, which covers it!"

"Started the series of 3 injections in each knee last November. I am in June, 8 months later. I felt a twinge a couple of times and have started the next series. It really has helped to ease the pain in my knees. I probably could go a month or so longer, but why wait till the pain gets bad... For me personally, it has been a godsend."

"I had been getting steroid injections in both knees (arthroscopic medial meniscus in both) that worked for approximately 6-8 months. I just had Orthovisc 2 weeks ago, and I'm very impressed with the results. I've been on my legs for 3 days building fences, and I just realized how pain-free my knees have been. I will wait to see how long it lasts, but I will do this before even considering new knees."

"I started the knee injection on July 31, 2018, and completed 3 injections in both knees on Sept 5, 2018. 5 weeks since my last injection and knees are greatly improved. I am 71 years old. The weeks prior to this week were worrisome. I was thinking they were not going to work. But this week has shown great improvement. I started riding my three-wheel bicycle, and that has helped a lot. I would highly recommend the injections, however, I would add, listen to your doctor and rest for 48 hours and go slow. Expect it to take several weeks to show improvement. Well worth it."

"53-year-old male, powerlifting for 35 years, multiple meniscus surgeries, bad arthritis, knee replacement is needed, I was told. I had my first Orthovisc shot today, don't know about anyone else's doctor, but it was painless, couldn't feel the shot being administered. I can't wait for my other 3 rounds. Before my shot, I'd say my pain level on a daily basis is probably an 8, at times I hate to walk to my car to go out for lunch, so I know what pain is."

"I was sedentary after unsuccessful rotator cuff surgery, and the next thing I know, my right knee is throbbing. Pain that would wake me out of sound sleep. Trouble walking. Some days better than others. I had a meniscus tear repaired 15 years earlier. Figured worst case another scope. After MRI, they say I’m bone on bone and a potential candidate for replacement. Next was cortisone, which did nothing. Then tried the 3 Orthovisc injections 1 week apart. Injections with a numbing injection first were not bad at all. The knee felt unstable after each injection, and relief really didn’t start until about 3 weeks after the last injection. It’s been 15 months since, and my knee has been holding up well. Occasional issues with very heavy use like 6-8 hours of moving up and downstairs. Not sure I could be trusted to go on a 4-6 hour hike, but you have to adjust your lifestyle. I’m shocked to hear people had pain with the injection, and I can only think they didn’t get the lidocaine injection first."

"Spent last summer in physical therapy to no avail. I have since learned that physical therapy just builds up the muscles around the knee to help stabilize it. After much thought, pain, and more thought, I decided to try the Orthovisc injections. I started with the first injection the third week of October 2017 and had the last, third, the first week of November 2017. It is now July 2018, and it still seems to be working. The injections stabilized the knee, and I have been almost pain-free. The only reason I did not give this injection a 10 was that they were quite uncomfortable to get!"

"Awesome experience with this drug. I have advanced osteoarthritis at 38 years old, and I’m super active. My doc suggested a series of three shots. I’m on shot two and feeling great. The shot did not hurt me at all. I would encourage seeking out the best injector at your practice. They make all the difference. Also, relax when receiving the injection."

"I have bone-on-bone in my left knee, so bad I was ready for a replacement. My Dr. suggested we 'give the shots a shot', if they don't work, we'll take the next step. He is an expert at giving shots to the knee as I felt no pain, just a bit of pressure as he did each injection. At first, I was very disappointed as I didn't feel any difference. About a month and a half after we finished the series, I noticed I had no pain in my knee! It lasted about a year, going in for another 3 shots next month. Dr. says it works for some, but not all, and I'm glad I 'gave it a shot'."

"Last June, I participated in a road cleanup, and after a half mile, I could no longer walk. Went to an orthopedist who took an X-ray. I got the impression that he just figured I was an overweight old lady who needed to complain. I heard his surprise when he saw I had bone-on-bone. He recommended three injections. The first one wasn't bad. The second hurt a bit, and after the last one, I couldn't even get off the table, it was so painful. Relief has lasted a year, and now I have an appointment to see a new doctor for another round. So, yes, as someone mentioned, the doctor you use makes a difference!"

"I had my first series of three shots in 2015. What a relief I received from them. I am bone on bone with two spurs in my left knee. My first set of shots lasted almost 20 months with little pain. I just completed my second series of three shots, and the knee is already feeling better. My doctor said that about half of the people get relief with the shots, but I feel it is worth a shot to see if you are in that 50% who get relief."

"This has given me my life back! I have had these injections now for the past 4 years and would not be walking without them. The quality of the technician administering the shots is vital! The first few shots I received were incredibly painful (I almost fainted) and only lasted a couple of months. Apparently the technician got close...but didn't get all of the gel into the all-important knee capsule, and some got wasted. I went to another doctor who used an x-ray machine to verify that the fluid was going in exactly where it needed to go, and what a difference! Hardly any injection pain, and the shot lasted 7 months before I needed more."

"Just had my second injection yesterday. After the first injection, I was somewhat sore and my knee was swollen, however, since yesterday, soreness has retreated and swelling has subsided. Feels good. It takes, as I understand it, 4-6 weeks to take full effect. So, we will see, but so far, so good."

"Finally, after years of pain, inflammation, and not being able to bend my knee, my doctor suggested Orthovisc. He explained to me what it was, what it's for, what to expect, and without a doubt, I said yes! After being so miserable for so long, I figured I had nothing to lose. After the first injection, I had relief, finally! It was tender for the first day, after that, it was fine. I completed the three-week regimen, and I'm so glad I went for it! My knee feels great! I'm going for the other one starting next week. Thank you, Orthovisc, and thank you to my doctor. No pain, I can bend and walk pain-free!"

"It was wonderful. I was able to enjoy my summer, run, walk with little to no pain at all. It lasted longer than the other shots I received. It lasted 7 months."

"Last year had four injections in my right knee in November. It took a good three weeks after my fourth shot to be pain-free. It's a year later, and I needed to start the injections in my left knee. I have already started to feel some relief. I did not let the second knee get as bad before seeking this treatment. I'm back to tennis and will play Pickleball soon. I did start to feel some discomfort in my right knee again, so I will most likely start injections in that knee after the first of the year. Sure worth a try. Be sure to do your physical therapy exercises daily. I'm 66, so good luck!!"

"I've been using Orthovisc for 3 years. The pain during injection was minimal, no biggie. For my last set of shots, I used another doctor. (Both doctors are rheumatologists.) The shots were very painful. Needless to say, next time I am going back to the first doctor for my next series. I know knee replacement is in the future for me (both knees), but so far I am having very good success with the Orthovisc, though I must admit that each time I do it, it’s not as successful as the last. Well, I guess that only stands to reason, but let's face it, with therapy and Orthovisc, I've been able to postpone surgery for 3 years and still counting."
