"I have used several pill form birth controls and the NuvaRing is my first non-pill method. I really like the fact that it is hassle free.I always had a hard time remembering to take the pill. Also, unlike the patch, it is not visible. I am the type who likes to have a period each month as an additional reassurance that I am not pregnant, so it is a better option for me than the shot or other period-free method. The side effects that I have experienced were mostly common- some water weight gain, shorter and lighter menstrual cycles, some cramping during my cycle. Some new side effects that I do not enjoy is a regualr (heavy) vaginal disharge which is stated as common for the ring. Also, I have random abdomen cramping."

"After reading 107 reviews on the ring and about 100 of them being bad experiences I was very nervous to try the ring. I decide to still try since I was horrible at remembering the pill, and I have to say I am so happy I gave it a chance. I absolutely love the ring. I cannot feel it at all, I have lost weight from it, I have more energy, no more moodiness, and just all around a happier person. The only side effect that I had and that only happen the first day was my face broke out a little. I have always had clear skin, but my first day trying it my chin broke out but after a couple days it cleared up and I have not had a problem since. I would recommend everyone to try it."

"This was an effective form of birth control because it completely killed my desire to have sex. When I did, it was sometimes painful because I could not get sufficiently lubricated or aroused. It also fell out during sex but not very often. Otherwise, I experienced no weight gain or hormonal issues."

"I have been on Nuvaring for 8 months now and overall I've had a good experience. I used to be on the pill and would always have a period every 2 weeks instead of 3, since I've been on Nuvaring I'm right on schedule. If the ring "slips" it's an easy fix, and it's nice to not have to worry about taking a pill every day. It has only come out twice during sex, but again, easy fix. You can take if out before sex if you want if it makes you uncomfortable thinking your partner can feel it. My only complaint with the Nuva ring is that it has lowered my lubrication during sex."

"Pros: ease of use, decreased acne, reduced headaches which was wonderful. Cons: 15 lbs weight gain in 6 months, unprecedented! Reduced sex drive and slight depression. Discharge and yeast infection for first 2 months, terrible breakthrough bleeding."

"My wife recently spent a week in the hospital including 3 days in neurological ICU because of a blood clot in her brain. She had 17 mini strokes and almost died. Oh, and she's only 25. She doesn't smoke, didn't hit her head, and no family history of blood clots. The neurosurgeon said it was because of the nuvaring. So please, don't even try it. I don't want anyone to have to go through that"

"Love Nuvaring!! Had some side effects such as spotting, cramps, chills the first month, but it all went away on the second ring and I love not having to think about it. Also, no pms, no mood swings and no worries "

"I had commented before and I also wanted to say that I haven't experienced any mood swings and I STILL WANT TO HAVE SEX! The pill made me hate sex but my drive hasn't suffered a bit with the Nuvaring. I love it and HIGHLY recommend it."

"I've been on the NuvaRing since 2005 and I love it. No pregnancies, my period shortened from about 7 days to 4 days. I also used to have bad cramps but this helped a lot. I've tried Ortho Tri-cyclen (hated it, gained a lot of weight that took many years to take off), Tri-Norinyl (liked this but still had to take a pill everyday), Paraguard IUD (hurt for the 1st week then was fine, expelled it after 3 months though). My sex drive did not decrease on NuvaRing. My only complaint is my skin is a little worse and every once in a while I have to take it out during sex. Thumbs up from my boyfriend and myself."

"I had a HORRIBLE experience with nuvaring. I’ll admit it was nice not having to worry about taking a pill every day, but I experienced awful side effects. It caused me to become extremely depressed and anxious and lowered my libido. My doctor told me I wouldn’t be able to feel it during intercourse, but I could and it was so uncomfortable - sometimes even painful. If needed you can take it out for up to 3 hours but it’s inconvenient to have to do that. I also had severe period cramps while using this. I personally do not recommend nuvaring."

"Maybe a day or two after inserting the Nuvaring I began having sore breasts. They were so sore a bra hurt them and touching them was out of the question. I also experienced nausea and/or vomiting everyday. I wanted Nuvaring for the convenience but it's not worth the side effects I experienced."

"When started using it, I thought it was the best contraceptive ever until it almost cost me my life. Since February 2015, I experienced shortness of breath, dry cough, headaches, pain and numbness in my legs and a sharp pain in my chest when I inhale. Doctors diagnosed me with asthma because I had it as a child. In the start of April 2015, I was rushed to the emergency room because the everything just got worse. I also had a high fever. After several test, the doctors made the discovery of life threatening blood clots within my lungs and around my heart (pulmonary embolism). I immediately removed the NuvaRing as this had lead to my condition. This has happened to many women and also lead to the death of some."

"It's been one week and I feel EXTREMELY tired and depressed. I really want this to work so I'll give it a little more time. It's easy to put in and I don't feel it at all. But I'm sleeping like 12 hours a day, and feel like I'm swimming through mud. Also, I've been having random cramps, or sharp pains in my abdomen. "

"Nuvaring is effective in pregnancy prevention. However, the side effects were bad. The first month was fine with only one bad side effect (diarrhea) and I wasn't too sure if it was even from my birth control that month. It was never listed as a side effect. When I got my period it was light and lasted only about 2 1/2days. 2-3 months side effects started to kick in, more abdominal cramps, normal discharge, extreme bloating very often, nausea, and headaches. Along with these I became extremely irritant/very grumpy, major loss in appetite, and when I did eat the diarrhea would hit (severely). Eventually I had horrible back pain, and became very depressed and negatively impacted on my life."

"I have been on Nuvaring for the better part of 3 years. At first it was great, of course, with the appeal of not having to remember to take a pill everyday. From the get-go, I noticed some pretty mild side effects, mainly hypersensitivity during the week of and leading up to my period. I would fall into hysterics a lot, and alienate myself from people and not know why. Today I've reached the apex of my tolerance with this birth control. I feel sad and anxious the majority of the time. I can't sleep, I can't relax, all I want to do is cry. I'm normally a really fun, and outgoing person."

"My daughter used the NuvaRing for 18 months and now she's not here to tell other women about it. She died from a pulmonary embolism from using the NuvaRing. She had no side effects to warn her, she died instantly. She was only 19 physically fit and did not smoke. Do not use the NuvaRing it increases your chances of having a blood clot which could be fatal. There are much safer birth control methods."

"I love Nuvaring! I was put on Microgestin FE 1/20 but stopped after the first month due to awful cramping in my arms/legs (which I still get during PMS) a year later I started NuvaRing and so far it has been no hassle at all. My breasts have grown at least half a cup size and while my acne isn't gone it's lightened considerably. My periods are light, 4 days long and I have little to no cramping when before I would be unable to move for hours due to menstrual cramps/ovulation and my flow was heavy for at least 5 days. I hope this method keeps working for me, and I recommend it to anyone looking for an easy method of birth control"

"Absolutely LOVE IT! With every other birth control I've used, my periods were unpredictable, but they have been almost perfect since I started the NuvaRing. I have gained a few pounds, but that's no big deal, because it beats thinking I am pregnant every month or that I'm going to die from losing so much blood."

"I'm gonna keep it short and sweet; I've been on about a week, taking it to help with PMS. No initial symptoms other than slight increase in random emotional upheaval. After about 3 days, exhaustion kicked in along with unnecessary bursts of anger, frustration or sadness. 4-6 days, mass fatigue, appalling headaches (I promise you, I'm not exaggerating!) crazy outbreaks of spots, nausea and lightheadedness. I'm going to stick it through for at least another week and will update. I would obviously prefer to follow through see if it settles down but I have rather a lot to do in the next few months and would rather not be impeded by my hormones. Good luck! It's worth a try- you can always take it out if it disagrees with you. -Alex Sterling"

"**DO NOT TAKE** This medication should absolutely be taken off the market. It triggered a manic episode for me along with a loss of sense of identity, personality problems, delusional thinking, and extreme anger outbursts (which, anger, is a trait of my personality I do NOT consider to have.) It made me feel extremely uncomfortable with my gender, as though I was a "child" and my body did not feel "my own." Let it be known a contraceptive can greatly affect your health, physical health, social life, and overall well being. This made not only my hormonal imbalance issues significantly worse, but my entire life, in general - was greatly affected. Anyways, I apologize if this is too much information, yet I feel it needs to be known the seriousness of this medication and the side effects that it has... Make sure you do your research before going on any kind of medication, even a contraceptive that the government will tell you is "safe.""

"My doctor put me on NuvaRing just shy of 3 months ago as a temporary alternative to the Assure procedure due to me needing to take birth control 3 months before the process. Previously I had not taken any hormones in over 10 yrs. The first month was fine. NO problems and I had a lighter cycle than usual. The 2nd month I started having crazy mood swings, and bloating. At this stage I just saw my OB/Gyn today because I have gained so much weight and bloat. I'm unable to wear my regular clothes. I work out 4x a wk eat healthy (almost vegeterian) and my only caffeine is a daily cup of coffee. My doctor said I have gained 10 lbs and need to remove NuvaRing."

"I turned to NuvaRing because I didn't want to take a pill everyday anymore and I didn't have a great reaction to the implant. It has been a pleasant experience and without a doubt more convenient for me. I know exactly when my period will start and they have become shorter and lighter. I have noticed that I get slight headaches right before I start a period though. The first couple of months, I had extra discharge and irritation but that quickly went away. The very few negative side effects disappeared fairly quickly. Overall, it is a great birth control method and I'm thankful to have found something that works for me."

"For reference, I was previously taking Tri-Sprintec which stopped agreeing with my body - I started to experience breakthrough bleeding during weeks 2 and 3. I was then switched to Sprintec, which also had the same side effects along with constant hunger. I thought I’d give Nuvaring a try as I liked the idea of not having to remember to take a pill everyday. I do not feel it at all at any point, I’ve had no issues with it falling out, no hunger or other side effects and my period is the lightest it’s ever been and down to about 3 days. Very happy. I know most people only leave reviews when they’re unhappy with something. I wanted to be sure the positive is also shared as everyone is different."

"I always wanted Nuvaring and now my insurance covers it. It's amazing. I'm not weirded out by my own body so I have no problem inserting and taking it out. I don't have to remember to insert it at the same time every day, so automatically I'm a perfect user! I had no side effects, which would make sense since its a lower dose at a constant rate. My sex drive has actually increased, not likely from the ring itself, but from the peace of mind knowing I didn't forget a dose. Totally recommend to anyone who can afford it, or who have bad memory and rather pay for the ring than for an accidental baby."

"Couple months ago, I was on the nuvaring. Biggest mistake of my life. It has changed what I loved, knew and liked. I had the nuva ring in for 2 weeks, only 2 weeks. I had a major stroke on Jan.31 2015 caused by this product. It killed 25% of my brain (back left portion). Had to relearn everything; to using a fork, writing, telling the time, etc. There's no side effects or warning this was going to happen, I just fell over and was in a coma for 3days. Now, I'm 18 fresh out of high school, I had a job, was going to school and just got my licence. But can't do that anymore. In other words, I strongly do not prompt this product. It should be taken off the market. Its deadly. I hope you are all safe, strong, women...and stay that way. Be safe<3"
