For Anxiety "I get very down and depressed in the Dark Winter months. About a month ago I went into Manic Panic Depression and anxiety was off charts for the last month. I'm scared of Benzos and refuse to take them because of how good they are and addicting. Was prescribed Paxil 20 mg . They gave me Hydroxyzine 50mg until Paxil Kicks in. Paxil has not worked and went back to see about something stronger than Hydroxyzine. They gave me clonidine and it worked within an hour at .10 mg clonedine I was eating and even smiled after 3 weeks of nightmarish living. I think this will be the one!"

For Opiate Withdrawal "I like clondine I've been on herion for 7 years and clondine is a miracle but I take nausea meds with it an a vitamin and a benzodiazepine and I believe it really works for me. The only down fall is dry mouth and light headed but if that's the only two complaints I have verses the vomiting and all the other bad side effects from herion I would say it's 100% wonderful for me and I enjoy keeping my money and not paying dealers bills and supporting there families while my suffers. I don't have any babies but there are things I have put off in my life that now I can take care of."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "Why does the medical community not widely suggest this medicine to women who are suffering from disabling hot flashes & not sleeping? I went to my gyn and I was told that my options were hormones, antidepressants or gabapentin. None of these were acceptable for me for various reasons. I went to my general dr who saw how serious my symptoms were and he prescribed this. I take 0.05 in the he morning and 0.05 before bed. The first night I took it I slept like a baby (something I have not done for nearly a year) and I didn't have one single flash all night! I got past the dry mouth and drowsiness and now I have no side effects and I'm my old self again. This saved my sanity and gave me my life back!"

For Opiate Withdrawal "This medication saved my life physically & spiritually. After 10 years being prescribed a synthetic opioid that was presented to me as safe & non-addicting, I lost everything, my job, my health, my family & my will to live. If you are coming off an opioid addiction, please don't do it cold turkey. Ask your health care provider if this medication is right for you. Also, it is relatively cheap even without insurance ( I only have to take one a day. I'm now happier & healthier than I've ever been & I'm 52, walk 4 miles a day. The best thing is, I have no desire to take another narcotic ever again. I hope this helps you!"

For ADHD "My son was 2 when prescribed Clonidine for his extreme insomnia and ADHD. I was terrified at first. His behavior was so scary and so was the thought of giving my 2 and now 3 year old a blood pressure medication. My son has turned three and is still on the medicine about .2 per day. I have for the first time been able to enjoy my son, sit with him, hold him, laugh with him. He has advanced in speech so much his speech therapy has stopped. He was finally able to relax for a moment to hear us. In turn, we are now able to hear him, experience his emotions and explore his thoughts. I have my child back."

For Opiate Withdrawal "So I have been on a lot of opiate meds over 12 years. First Vicodin then so on up to oxymorph, oxycodone highest doses were not affecting me at all. Taking well over 140mg daily to sustain. I like to have this info as a reader so you can understand tolerance and possible withdrawal (even though it varies). Clonidine has seemingly done wonders. It took away my panic. I am coming up on day 3 now kicks started 16 or so hours ago sweating etc started 8 hours in and it is helping me stay strong. You're going to detox, and there will be hard times but there is also amazing happiness when you can experience all the sensations of life again. Stay strong keep moving on."

For Anxiety "I have severe panic attacks my blood pressure goes up to 203 over a hundred and one my heart pound so hard I get makes me cough, it is extremely irregular and my chest gets tight and painful almost. I am scared of everything around me, loud noises cause me to jump and scream I am so uncomfortable I sit and cry and cry. I have tried medications for over 30 years and over the last 10 years things have become worse and worse. I was started on clonidine and am now able to tolerate the above. There was one time in particular I ended up having to take .3 mg to bring down my blood pressure it was so high I highly recommend this drug use it all the time I take it with me in my purse I enjoy my life again"

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on Clonidine for a month now. I have had uncontrolled high blood pressure for 5 years secondary to Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) . The doctor I was under the care of wasn’t inclined to treat my PH because I am a woman. I switched physicians and was immediately referred to a specialist at Baylor Heart & Lung Clinic. He changed my medications and tossed in Clonidine at night and PRN use as needed. My blood pressure is well controlled and I can breathe!"

For Opiate Withdrawal "I was on 40 mg oxy, three times a day following a head on car collision. I went through therapies, 7 procedures, injections...you name it. Some things helped temporarily, but pain would always return. I realized what a fog I was in. My pain doc upped my dose (by 5 mg) I had been on the same dose for 2 years. I always dosed as prescribed. I became nearly bedridden. I couldn’t get up often and still had pain. I also had to have my meds with me. I asked the doc to get off of it, he gave me clonidine . I take one every 6 hrs on day 2-3, and then every 8 hrs day 4-7. Been off all pain meds since June 2017! :) YOU CAN DO IT!! I still have pain, but I am clear headed. EAT healthy. And no matter how hard it is make yourself get out of bed! 1-2 weeks you’ll feel good"

For Anxiety "This drug clonidine was a game changer for my anxiety. I love this drug- it helps me sleep, it calms me down from full blown panic attacks (it takes about 20-30 minutes to do this). It helps with my ADHD because it calms down my body and lets me focus. I can't take benzos, so it has been really helpful. It takes a while before it stops making you drowsy. I only take half a tab if I'm super anxious during the day. I only take full tabs if I'm having a panic attack or going to bed WARNING: DO NOT STOP TAKING THIS DRUG COLD TURKEY. I had horrendous withdrawals. I stopped cold after 3 years and was shaking and tremoring, did not sleep for a week, and had severe panic attacks all day every day."

For High Blood Pressure "My pharmacy always gave me Clonidine from the company Unichem. For some reason they changed to another company. When I took first dose instead of bringing down the BP like Unichem pill for clonidine did always instead it elevated. I never see under 170/99. This pill is not working as needed for what Unichem gave me in the same dose of 0.2. I hunted and came across an old Unicem bp pill and took it and my bp came down like it should had done. So the next time I am due for a pill I take the new brand and again it elevated. I am filing with the state medical board to investigate. This company is not making the pill at mg it is suppose to be. They have the dose incorrect is what the urgent care doctor stated and he has referred me to my family doctor to file report and get another medicine not with this company."

Catapres (clonidine) for Opiate Withdrawal "Clonidine made all the difference in the world in my recovery. It helped with my restless leg, cravings, sweating. I took it with Valium. It makes you feel like you're walking through mud but it beats the alternative!! It's very inexpensive. It was a life saver for me."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Clonidine can be a life saver for people going through withdrawal from opiates. I used it, a taper and finally a benzo (Valium) to end my 2 year opiate addiction with little to no problems. Trouble with clonidine is, if you are in it for too long it becomes hard to get off. It can make your methadone or opiate withdrawal look like a walk in the park as I found out. DO NOT TAKE CLONIDINE FOR MORE THAN 2 WEEKS. Withdrawal from it is bad and cold turkey off clonidine can be deadly if you have any underlining medical problems (high blood pressure, anxiety, panic attacks, blood clots)."

Kapvay (clonidine) for ADHD "I have a 8 year old son with ADHD. He is extremely hyper and unable to focus, school and friends became a true nightmare. We see a wonderful and highly respected psychiatrist. He is very knowledgeable on ADHD medicines. I was told when their is an emotional factor to the ADHD, Clonidine is the best medication for this. We tried Clonidine after MANY stimulants and non-stimulants also anti-psychotics. Clonidine 1.0 mg 2x a day this was the only medicine that we saw immediate results with. The only side effect was the tiredness, which did go away. I started him on the Kapavy 2 weeks ago. This medicine is a true GOD send. He is calm, focused, and far less emotional. We can't say enough great things. Please give this medicine a try."

For Insomnia, Stimulant-Associated "I was diagnosed with ADHD about a year ago, right before my 21st birthday. My life itself was extremely hard so the reason I went to see a psychiatrist was because I had severe sleeping problems mostly as a result of my PTSD from a sexual assault that happened to me as a child repetitively. Anyways, Clonidine has literally been a MIRACLE WORKER. I used to go days without sleeping, simply because my mind wouldn't turn itself off-- it couldn't... Immediately after I ran out of my first prescription I couldn't sleep. Fortunately for my ADHD and PTSD, Clonidine worked like aspirin to a headache-- it just knew where the pain was and how to make it go away. Now I've been on it for a little over 6 months and I never wanna remember what it used to be like again. I take it about an hour-2 hours before bed because it does take a minute to kick in, and as soon as I feel it I am met with tranquility. Might make you get a full 8-9 hours of sleep though so don't take it if it's only a nap."

Catapres (clonidine) for Opiate Withdrawal "I'm tapering down from 100-200mg of hydrocodone per day to 20mg per day. Also, quit 20mg of Dilaudid per day. The first couple of days were hell. I finally called my doctor and told him what was going on. He prescribed me the Clonidine patch. It has helped me tremendously! The only side effect I have had is a little dizziness when I get up too fast. But I feel great and am on day 4 and down to 20mg of hydros and still feel good! Like I never started them. By the way, I have been on them for 4 years through pain management for severe diabetic neuropathy. I highly recommend this product."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I have been addicted to opiates for over 10 yrs. and I have been through many horrible withdrawals. After getting my habit over $150 per day I had had enough. I decided to get on Suboxone. I was prescribed 8mgs per day and this went on for over a year when my doc suddenly shut his practice down. I decided this is the time for me to get off. Well I found myself in the ER and the doc prescribed .1 mg clonidine. It was a GODSEND! It helped so much with the chills, sweats, crying, etc. It does make you very drowsy but it makes the detox tolerable. I was able to sleep and eat during the detox while on Clonidine. I used Xanax at night also to help with sleep. Clonidine helps big time!"

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I have taken these clonidine for approximately a year. Hot flushes were a nightmare, my mood swings so bad, everyone kept telling me to calm down. Dr put me on these and after few days flushes stopped and mood back to normal, I stopped taking them few weeks ago. Thinking I'm over hot flushes, big mistake, within a day or two they came back with vengeance, Started taking them again, I only take two 25mcg at night and bingo all stopped again. Will increase to am and night if I get even one flush, can not cope with flushes and mood swings. But for now Clonidine my best friend."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Was an Heroin junkie smoking on an average of 1.5-2g a day for almost two years. Was a Roxy junkie for five years before the heroin habit. I'm on my fourth day in heavy withdrawal. The kratom worked wonders the first three days but ran short due to needing a heavier dose to do the trick. So called my Dr today after reading everything available on clonidine and explained my situation. 40 min later I had my clonidine in hand. Up all night with my legs tripping out, headache, arms and upper back starting to get sore. Took one .3mg dose and 45-55min I was able to lay on bed without the RLS or achy upper body. I would recommend this medicine to anyone during the uncomfortable reactions when you are choosing to take your life back. Good luck."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I had withdrawals before...I had no idea this medicine existed! My new Dr. Who happens to be my PC prescribed this to me when I had been gradually dosing down for about a year from Suboxone. It doesn't stop all withdrawal symptoms but no sweats, hot/cold flashes, helps psychologically and is safe to use with anxiety meds, Xanax/Valium etc. I'm headed in to day 3 and had a little trouble sleeping through the night - but I did get sleep and am able to go about my mandatory daily tasks without crawling out of my skin and suffering from "the ick" for the most part. I'm psyched to reach the end of the tunnel - I have been pretty hard on myself during this experience. I 100% recommend asking your doctor for it! Good luck out there."

For High Blood Pressure "Clonidine was my third group of blood pressure meds due to side effects from others. Started out with 0.1mg at night. 6 months ago I starting 196/101 so I ended up at 0.3mg morning and night. Yes, it lowers blood pressure. I couldn't function as a human being but it lowers blood pressure. I am in the construction industry so this was not going to cut it. I was tired, noxious, couldn't think straight, remember anything, balance was way off. The list goes on. I don't drink alcohol but I would relate it drinking mescal tequila all day long. It was by far, the worst med I have ever taken. I am now off of it. I never realized how bad it was until I got off clonidine. My life was put on hold for 3 months while on the higher dose. I am now trying to catch up. I know all meds effect different people differently but IMO this is one to stay way from. Watch for side effects. Giving this a 2 rating. It works for BP, but the side effects blow this one out of the park"

For Opiate Withdrawal "I was really bad on pretty much any pain medication I could find. I quickly had a tolerance so high I was running through 25 tens a day! I must say that subutex saved my life!! How ever even after being slowly weaned down off the drug I still had trouble getting totally back to normal. You won't detox like as bad as tens. The symptoms are very similar. The doctor gave me clonidine. I have to say it helped with most symptoms. Except restlessness/sleep and pretty intense lower back pain. For the back pain a heating pad for home and thermacare back wraps for work. It was more than do able. After 15 years battling this crap it's finally over just in time for my first child. Had to change my old friends but it's worth it. Keep your heads up."
