Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I have taken this medication for years for IBS and now my insurance will no longer cover it. It's the only medication that works with severe flare-ups. I am so totally disappointed in the FDA's approach on this medication which left many people with no other alternative. Shame on the FDA and our Federal Government who go along with these measures. I guess only the elite will be able to afford a medication that is very well needed and that includes our overpaid elected officials."

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I used Librax for IBS. Only been on this for 2 days, but I feel the drug is working well, will continue. I have had IBS for years, but it comes and goes and sometimes no symptoms for months. But I recently had a sinus infection and they put me on antibiotic LEVAQUIN. After using it, it brought back my IBS problems."

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "Unfortunately Donnatal is another "Pharma-bro"-type situation. Unscrupulous people buy drug manufacturing rights and then jack up the prices 100-1000% just because they can - and no one stops them. Donnatal suffered such a fate; it used to be about 80 bucks a bottle and then shot up 800% over 6 years - for no reason other than profit. In the US, in 2011 the FDA changed its classification which meant all generics were suddenly illegal and no new drugs could enter the market until it is no longer "under evaluation" by the FDA - which hasn't happened in over 7 years, so don't hold your breath. The drug works extremely well for me to treat IBS, but the price means I can't use it. "

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Enterocolitis "I had been seeing G.I. specialist for months for intermittent nausea and vomiting that led to horrible stomach and chest pain. My G.I. tried everything, nothing seemed to worked, I even threw up on Zofran twice(strongest anti-nausea medicine you can get). I wind up in the ER about monthly for complications with dehydration and anemia, and at the ER I was put on Donnatal. Donnatal was a miracle! I can now function, leave my house most days, and no longer spend every day wishing I would just die because of the pain. It doesn't fix everything but without it I am really bad. "

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I was recently diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome and given Belladonna/Phenabarbital, as well as Dexilant (acid reducer). I felt great for the first week of being on these; however after that it has gone downhill, with severe diarrhea and headaches. I have lost 13 lbs since taking these medicines and concerned with which medicines cause this. The Dexilant seems to cause the diarrhea, but I'm left wondering why the headaches are so bad. Any assistance would be great...cannot function w/the headaches and nothing over the counter touches them."

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Duodenal Ulcer "Donnatal is so expensive. Go to donnatal website. There is a link to click on drug assist. I called. They sent me a prescription for free. Also my doctor had a coupon. I only had to pay $15 for 90 pills"

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I was having a LOT of upper bowel pain (like every morning for 2 months) and tried several prescription medicines that didn't work at all. Then I happened to notice that whenever I took my "migraine medicine" I had no bowel pain so I started taking the Butabital (50)/Aspirin (325)/Caffeine(40MG) (generic Fiorinal) capsule every night at midnight and again at 4AM and the bowel pain disappeared! My doctor said this medicine is similar to Donnatal but (at least for me) my insurance covers it and it's VERY CHEAP! I would definitely recommend it."

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "There are really only 3 medications that really work great for both versions of irritable bowel syndrome, and they're old ones. Insurance companies usually put up a fight for Librax and Donnatal. But this is also very effective too."

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Duodenal Ulcer "Was given this medication as an liquid form along with a couple of other liquid medications. I had to drink like a half of gallon non stop, but within 5 to 10 minutes my Irritable Bowel Syndrome relaxed and I started flautuating like crazy in the emergency room in front of the doctor and nurse. The doctor said that's what we wanted. Within 1 hour my IBS was completed gone. The problem now is my doctor prescribed me Donnatal and the prescription is $600.00 with insurance, so now I'm back suffering with IBS day after day knowing if I could just get that medication I would be fine again. Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I was given Donnatal 20 years ago and it worked like a wonder drug. My doctor since has passed away. I have colitis every now and then I have a flare-up. I asked my doctor for Donnatal and he said he never heard of it. So I am having a hard time finding an older doctor who may know more about meds than the new younger ones. Still in pain and doc wants to put me on a lifetime drug. I have to go to Italy to find a good doc. Fed up."

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Irritable Bowel Syndrome "Over 30 years ago a gastroenterologist prescribed this for me. I was burping all the time and he said I was pre ulcerative. This medicine along with nexium worked like a charm. Now that I have terrible anxiety attacks I can't get it. I even was given an endoscopy with no negative results."

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Duodenal Ulcer "I use this medication to treat severe acid reflux. Mixed with Mylanta or Mallox liquid it works extremely well. It's very old school and insurance won't pay for it, for that reason, but I still pay the $200 plus to get."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "As for me, I have had IBS for 30 yrs. I was prescribed Donnatal and the horrible stomach cramps stopped. It is the best medicine for IBS I have ever tried. Recently have been having increased IBS cramps, diarrhea, and an ER dr prescribed Donnetal after I told him Bentyl made me feel dizzy and weird. He said it would be hard to find as indeed it has been. The pharmacy gave me your Company name to see if I can find out why it is so hard to fIND and why it is unreasonably expensive. My life is miserable every day becsuse of IBS and I know if I had Donnetal it would be normal. "

Donnatal (atropine / hyoscyamine / phenobarbital / scopolamine) for Duodenal Ulcer "I had suffered from duodenal ulcers, 3 or 4 of them. The Dr's gave me liquid Donnatal. I'd take a swig of it and the pain would go away. I have new Drs that haven't heard of it. I told them it's what worked for me. I'm still waiting for approval. Now I just found out its in pill form, too! Great!"

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I just found out about Crohn's disease. After three years of suffering this is the first time a doctor gave me a medication that actually works. I'm used to getting a GI cocktail at the ER, but to have this medicine in hand always makes me feel safe from embarrassing accidents. I'm 40 years old, and this began in 2007 at age 36. The ER doctors told me it was a virus go home, but now I know I'm not crazy. Thanks for this medicine, it's a miracle."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) in 1988 and have suffered with this horrible condition since. As my Doctor put it "you are the worst case of IBS I've seen in 30 years of practice" One cannot imagine the pain and suffering I went through on a daily basis until my doctor tried this new medicine called SERVIRA. I am finally able to function to some degree of normality."

The pediatrician prescribed Donnatal elixir and one teaspoon calmed my anxiety and stomach. Superb medication and now I need it for spastic colon which just emerged and doctors say it’s unavailable!"

"I use hyoscyamine when my Crohn's heats up on me. I have massive strictures and scarring, a few fistulas, and several adhered loops. The worst sections are descending colon through rectum, ileum/cecum is pretty bad, but the absolute worst starting at the sigmoid flexure. It usually takes a while, usually a couple doses, to get things tolerable and get the pain and borderline barking from heaving to subside. These pills help a lot more than the Norco or edibles for the pain."

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome "I was given this medication in the emergency room for stomach spasms due to a large hiatal hernia. I was in great pain because gas was trapped within the stomach up in my chest cavity and I couldn’t expel it up or down. It is the only med that relieves the pain fairly quickly. Don’t use it often but it is good for my problem. 5 ml prn."
