No, this drug is NOT a mixture of xanax and flexeril. The person who told you this was wrong. Zanaflex is tizanidine which is a muscle relaxant. Xanax is alprazolam which is an antianxiety agent. Flexeril is cyclobenzeprine, another muscle relaxant but is not chemically related to Zanaflex (tizanidine). Zanaflex is closely related to clonidine chemically.
Xanax is in a class called benzodiazepines. Neither zanaflex (tizanidine) or Flexeril (cyclobenzeprine) are benzodiazepines. They are all very very different drugs. Flexeril is most chemically related to tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline. Zanaflex (tizanidine) is a centrally acting alpha 2 adrenergic agonist. Zanaflex will make you feel very tired, make you drowsy and dizzy, it can cause hallucinations in some people, it lowers the blood pressure, and slows the heart rate, it can cause dry mouth, constipation, vomiting, and blurred vision and slurred speech. It should never be taken along with alcohol because it can cause sedation to be worse.
Thank you for the info, but i was still wondering how much flexeril is in this pill? or am I understanding you wrong?
there is NO flexeril in the Zanaflex pill. There is NO xanax in a zanaflex pill. These are all three very different drugs. Zanaflex's generic name is tizanidine. Zanaflex contains tizanidine and tizanidine only! It is completely different from flexeril and xanax-they are different drugs, neither of which are in Zanaflex. I know it is confusing to some because the brand names sound familiar but they are all three different, separate drugs.
There is no amount of flexeril in xannaflex
