I am currently taking Wellbutrin for anxiety/depression. Could I still take Contrave for weight loss?
What if you are taking Wellbutrin for anxiety? Does that affect using Contrave for weight loss?

First, let me tell you I am a doctor. These two drugs are completely contraindicated because they both contain bupropion, which makes you highly susceptible to seizures. Do not take them together.
Also, make sure you are not on any type of opiate or opioid medication, because Contrave contains naloxone.
Hi, Heather!
Both Wellbutrin and Contrave contain bupropion as an active ingredient so you'd need to find out if the combination dosage is within recommended range.
Also, both naltrexone (contained in Contrave) and bupropion are metabolized by the liver and could potentially cause some liver damage. Your doctor might want to period blood work to be sure your liver values are okay.
What could be good news is that side effects of Wellbutrin can include decreased appetite and weight loss in some users.
