Been just over three weeks on an increase to 150mg on sertraline. Notice some benefits. But it fluctuates back and forth. Good stretches and bad stretches in a day. Any tips on what helps you stay patient. This dose helped me out of a deeper pit 7 years ago. Not sure how long it took though for the 150 to kick in then. Any advice, encouragement etc. would be a blessing. Thank you in advance. God bless.
How do you stay patient with an increase on sertraline?

It is the anxiety that is so troublesome. It started in May and my doctor was slow in increasing the Sertraline to 150 until my family doctor did. That was towards the end of July. Only then have we seen improvements. But ever so slowly. Like one of you said the roller coaster effect. Friday hardly any anxiety but on Saturday a lot more.

Hi, randy!
It sounds as if you're experiencing the "roller coaster effect". You're having ups and downs while your metabolism is still adjusting to the medication but it also sounds like you're well on your way. It's hard to stay patient when all you want is to feel better and that time is coming soon.
As Tygwyn said, find ways to distract yourself. Take a long walk, read a good book, watch an old favorite movie, develop your hobbies. Try to stay positive and don't dwell on any negatives!
PS, Deep breathing exercises might be especially helpful when the old anxieties try to sneak in.
For me it was distraction , a walk and a talk to people I meet on the way , gardening etc anything that makes your mind focus on something other than you . I would go for a short drive , it made me concentrate on driving, and nothing else . You may not even the bad times reducing as they surely will.
