Hi all, I came down off Pregabilin in the last three months and my anxiety got so bad I was put on citalopram to start and it didn’t work and now sertraline. I have been on it for a total of 8 weeks and I upped it over 2 weeks ago to 100mg but it was too much for me so I adjusted the dose to 75mg. I am having really bad side effects: heart tremors, chest pain, migraine, memory loss, agitation, feeling flat, stomach pain can’t do anything. I really don’t know how much longer I can take the side effects. I’m just wondering does this get better? And did anyone have this bad side effects and eventually the medication worked?
I am desperate for answers and may loose my job as a result of it.

I've used a supplement called Reliv for insomnia and hair loss, as a general detox drink mix, and provision for good multivitamins as well. The cost is the same as you'd pay for anything else on the market, and you can get discounts for auto-refills which you can discontinue if the cost is a problem, and re-up later. It made my hair loss stop clogging the tub drain, assisted well with insomnia. It doesn't help my wife's depression (bipolar) or insomnia, mainly because she doesn't like to take homeopathic pills and supplements. She wants whatever the doctor prescribes, but she's been on everything, and nothing works after while. Side effects come with increased doses, or new experimental drugs. Either they rebrand the old stuff, or the new stuff is too side-effectual. I'd say go with homeopathic, try Reliv.

Hi. I'm on week 6 of 100 mg sertraline. The first few weeks really bad with side effects. Feeling weird, weak, flat, lack of motivation, all of the side effects under the sun. By week 4 got a bit better, then got worse again. Mornings are worse than afternoons.

It sounds like a very tough time for you right now. Hopefully your doctor is helping you with the adjustment. I take Buspar along with the sertraline which does help some. Not sure if you were offered anything along those lines. Also to assist as the medication levels out in your system: getting enough water, eating at regular intervals, any type of exercise and maybe some yoga with meditation and deep breathing to help calm your body. It is not easy. Keep going as it can be a rough journey finding the best medication and dosage. Acupuncture or massage may also help you relax.

Thanks so much for replying. I don’t think I have ever heard of buspar? All these things are great but some days I can barely eat and get out of bed.
If you don’t mind me asking how long did it take to work for you? And did you have bad side effects?
Thanks a lot

It took about 4 weeks and I was on different doses. I still have a hard time sleeping. The addition of Buspar or something similar might help you until the sertraline levels off. It takes longer as your body has had to eliminate one drug and then adjust to another. I have had many days where I could barely function. I did quit working for awhile until i was feeling better. So I feel for you. Talk therapy has helped also, but no one thing is magic. Take care of yourself.
