Just because you have a tooth ache doesn't mean its an infection. Taking it just in case and not enough to complete the entire course of meds can make for resistant bacteria. You're going to have to see the dentist. Take some motrin or aleve for the pain.
I have seen a dentist who said there is n infection in the tooth that I would have to take an antibiotic... he prescribed penicillin but I have no insurance.
