What happens when you drink alcohol while taking Topamax?

I just started taking 25mg of Topamax this week and will soon increase to 50mg for my headaches. I have a wedding this weekend and in a couple weekends, I'm going on vacation. While on vacation, I plan on drinking more than a few drinks. When I asked the doctors nurse if I could drink while on Topamax, she casually said "Yes, you'll just throw up the next day"... can anyone share their experience after drinking while taking Topamax? I want to have a good time but also don't want to overdo it.

I had two blackouts while on Topamax. Only had 3 glasses of wine... be cautious!

Hi Mccoyst, I agree with Stephen. You may want to have a drink at home first to see how it affects you. It's not just the side effects, but also how the drug is excreted. Ex... If a drug is broken down in the liver the alcohol may cause the liver to work harder.
Have fun at your events. They are bound to be better than meds anyway!

Mccoyst; Really let's pick 6 drinks at that dose you should just be fine there is not a major Interaction but know that the alcohol may hit you harder because of the extra sedation from both of these so just use your head and you should be just fine. Have a nice Vacation. Again it may lower your tolerance to the alcohol so just keep that in mind and maybe nurse yourself threw the evening. And I dought that you well get much sicker than you normally would.
