I am brand new to taking Xanax for the most part former friends of mine used to give it to me if I was having a panic attack but I don’t even know what type of does within the past three months I went to my own doctor and was surprised that he wrote me a prescription no problem at all .5 mg to be taken twice a day I’ve already built up a bit of a tolerance so I think the most I ever taken is four in one day. I drink wine on Xanax and for the most part it’s been OK but I did have one incident where I tripped and fell due to loss coordination for me personally I think one or two glasses of wine is OK and actually helps Me to sleep better. Of course like all of you I am concerned about my health but I like my wine and will probably not give it up. I’m thinking the key is to be careful with how much you’re drinking and to be careful of how high of a dose of Xanax you are taking I am on a rather low-dose if anyone has any input they would like to share I would be more than welcome to hear your advice since I am basically new to all of this
Yes it’s lit af!
Guess I'll add my testimonial as well. I once took a .5 xanax after drinking just one Woodchuck (apple ale). I was fine until I started falling asleep. I was in that weird in between state where you're not asleep, but not really awake. And every time I inhaled it was like and electric shock going through my body and it felt like my lungs were physically rattling. I'm not sure how long it lasted; I eventually fell into normal sleep. But it was miserable and really scary, because I was too out of it to even move my body, let alone call for help. I'm guessing it was a nervous and/or respiratory reaction (because benzos and alcohol do that). I'm just glad I'd only had small amounts of both.
Reading this thread, obviously some people can have both with no problem. But if you're not sure, why risk a horrible reaction in order to find out? I have taken xanax a few hours after drinking with no problem. But I'll never again have the two together.
No you shouldn't unless you're trying to die. I know this from experience and lived though it somehow. I didn't mean to really mix it but I couldn't sleep cuz of stress and I'm an alcoholic. This is what will happen if you mix the 2. It may not happen the 1st or 2nd time doing this but I was asleep after mixing the 2 and I stopped breathing but even being asleep I knew I wasn't breathing I fought hard for a breath and a friend told me I was snoring which I normally don't do. Anyway it did not feel peaceful it felt like I was suffocating or like I forgot how to breathe. I don't know how I got through it but that's exactly what it'll feel like when it happens. This is not a question but an answer for anyone that wants to know what happens when mixing the 2
I have been taking Alprazolam (generic xanax) for 3 years now. I take 1mg every evening. I also have A DRINK usually every evening. It definitely is just very relaxing. But again, I only take 1mg (with a 3-year tolerance!) and I have one drink, whether it be a glass of wine or a single mixed drink. It helps me sleep really well. Everyone is different though. The first time I ever took alprazolam with alcohol was actually an accident. I drank a 22oz dark beer, then habitually took my 1mg. Then 15 minutes later, I had COMPLETELY forgotten I took my meds, and I drank 3/4 a bottle of wine. And I remember walking to my bathroom just in case I threw up because I started to feel insanely dizzy. (I have a vomiting disorder so I wanted to be safe and near a toilet). Apparently I “fell asleep” (passed out) on the bathroom floor and then pleasantly accepted a pillow from my boyfriend.
Then he picked me up and carried me up the stairs and I woke up in the same position he put me down in, fully clothed, and absolutely no memory of the night before. I am much more careful now. Don’t ever make that mistake. It felt like a terrible time machine because I literally couldn’t remember anything from the night before. Be careful
I been on Xanax for 20 years ..im up to 1 mg 3 times a day .I drink vodka all the time .the Xanax will make you get drunk a little faster and your hangover headache will be a little more intense but that's it.it won't harm you .
Hi I had half a Xanax the other night while having a few vodkas and I ended up really off my head with no recollection of what happened so beware, I've flushed the rest of my supply down the toilet.
Damn what a waste. Next time when u get a supply of something and u don’t want it ship it to me
Yep everyone reacts differently to different medicines. I personally have a decent tolerance to alcohol. A bottle of red and I'm feeling nicely toasted, 2 bottles and i'm very pissed. I took 0.25mg of xanax for the first time yesterday. Just had a mildly relaxed feeling as if I'd drunk 2 premium beers. Took another 0.25mg and felt a little bit more chilled but still reasonably alert and functioning normally. Drunk half a bottle of wine on top of the xanax and felt nicely buzzed, that was about it. Was testing my tolerance for a long haul flight that i'm going on tomorrow. Obviously will ease back on the booze due to cabin pressure. Benzos and alcohol have always been a no-no. You can die from this combo. Know your limits. If you really must drink with xanax, take your prescribed dose and wait a couple of hours. If you think you're too wasted, don't drink alcohol.
If you must drink, have a beer, then wait another hour. If you're still fine after another hour, then you be the judge. Personally, I'm good on 0.5mg and 1/2 bottle of red. I'm not going to push it beyond that.
These are all hyper exaggerated, just be careful how much u take. I've been drinking tonight (wine and vodka) and I just took 1mg of Alprazolam (generic brand of xanax) and might take 1 mg more... still debating. To be honest idk why I'm doing it, I've never had that much fun taking benzos, whatever, Good luck, have fun, be safe.
The key thing is every one reacts differently to different substances. Just because you don't believe the stories, does not make them "hyper exaggerated". I just had a bad experience with alcohol & Xanax mixed last night so do night write ppl off who have had the same bad experiences. Don't you know it all lol
All cvp was saying is they were over exaggerating. Not that they were necessarily wrong. And they were over exaggerating. It does entirely depend on your body but it’s not a definite no to doing it. Like he/she said “just be careful how much you take”.
Do not mix alcohol and xanax! I drink like a dehydrated pirate, and xanax does not relax me at all. I thought it would be okay to have a few rum shots after taking the tiny xanax. I was anything but okay! I remember crying uncontrollably, my mom biting my fingers, then ringing her doorbell and sucker punching her in the face when she opened the door. I fell and hit my head. Crawled upstairs. Took 2 more Xanax and was in a coma for 24 hours. It also triggered an asthma attack. Honestly, i must be invincible, because i should be dead! A week later my mom still has a black eye and broken glasses, i still have a black eye, a huge bump on my forehead, and many regrets. So, no, do not drink and xanax! I Had no control of my behavior.
I take Xanax everyday, if you taking Xanax i strongly advice not to consume alcohol with it. But if its out of our system i think is safe to drink.
Hi, everybody is different, and although some people can mix alcohol with Xanax & experience little to no side effects, overall this combination should be avoided. You should never attempt to drive when drinking alcohol, even more should this be adhered to when mixing alcohol with Xanax. The main symptoms you may experience with this combination are confusion, drowsiness, dizziness and impairment of judgement... you could find yourself in a dangerous place
DO NOT last week I took a Xanax and forgot I took it so I had a mixed alcohol drink , Hennessy and juice to be exact , I went to sleep in public twice then after that I was a walking zombie it was like I left my own body I completely blacked out and do not remember anybody or anything people had to tell me what I did and where I went the even more scary part is people said I was acting completely normal they did even know I was zoned out , reality sent in when I got behind the wheel from God knows where and ended up driving on the wrong side of the road where I got into a minor crash I don't even remember driving please do not mix alcohol with Xanax
Alcohol potentiates the effect of benzodiazepines (that is makes the effect of the Xanax stronger) one should never never-ever drink alcohol while taking any benzos. It depresses a persons breathing.
I have taken .5 milligram of xanax and had 3 beers at home before - dinner party situation and had conversations with people (completely lucid I am told) that I don't even vaguely remember the next day. I wouldn't recommend this at all. I have a pretty high alcohol tolerance that 3 beers shouldn't have touched and a pretty high tolerance to pain medications (narcotics) because of a bum knee so I am assuming it was the xanax mixed with it that did this. Definitely don't go out to a bar or anything and mix these two or the results could be disastrous!
No. Mixing Xanax with alcohol can cause reduce respiration, coma or death. Without knowing your dosing and other factors of your health, it could well be deadly. It depresses the nervous system.
Rather, they BOTH depress the nervous system, pulse, etc.
