I’ve been on benzos for years, currently I get 60 2mg I month. Through the years I learned Mylan is just garbage, I use to like Dava but the last time I went with them they were junk. Sandoz are ok. This time I got Greenstone which is a subsidiary of Pfizer, so they are made in the same location same binders just about same everything. I really like the Actavis bars, they seem to have more of a punch to them. Any opinions on Greenstone or Actavis?
Xanax 2mg Greenstone or Actavis?

It’s not just the generics being slightly different for different people, which is also true but something sinister is going on behind the scenes in this modern health care and pharmaceutical industry. I don’t know the rules well to this yet but I have a Quora account where I break down facts about what’s happening in out health scare industry. The Sandoz have become very unreliable as has the yellow Teva alprazolam 2mg. Greenstone has as well in the 2mg formulations. I’d request to get your next script filled for the 1mg Teva round blue alprazolam or the blue greenstone generic. I get 180 a month and I had been given the Breckinridge until they thankfully disappeared from existence due to a cross contamination recall. Then I started getting the Sandoz which seemed a LOT less potent than they used to and they had a bad habit of being inconsistent with their dosage in each pill so I only get Xanax made by UpJohn, Teva or greenstone generic.
But even the name brand isn’t near what it used to be. They’re not using the exact amount of active ingredient and is actually only putting roughly 24-33.5% of the actual dose. That’s mainly with companies like Aruobindo or Sun pharmaceutical company.
As you might gather from the comments here every person responds differently to every medication. What someone says works well for them may do you no good at all. So the answer is that the product that is the best is the product that works best for you.
When you find one that you like ask your pharmacy to special order it for you or have your doctor write a script specifically for that one.
I appreciate your response but I’ve asked for a special order. They said they order meds and corporate decides what manufacturers to order from and they have no say so. So I’m out of luck.
I noticed today I’m sweating, irritated and not able to sleep. I picked up my refill of alprazolam 2mg yesterday. I didn’t sleep well yesterday and also had a bad day. I noticed my alprazolam didn’t take the edge off yesterday either. So today, feeling even worse, I looked at my bottle and I see Greenstone manufacturer! I’ve never had Greenstone. I’ve had Xanax name brand and didn’t like those either. I prefer the yellow or blue. Could it be Greenstobe doesn’t work for me? What do we do?

Hey there JennyHman,
I realize that I’m a bit late to respond but I just wanted to let you know that you’re still having issues with your pharmacy claiming that they are unable to get a specific generic in for you then they’re probably just trying not to have to go through the hassle of ordering a specific generic, especially for a controlled substance like a benzodiazepine for just one person. Depending on what pharmacy you use, you can ask them who their distributor is and contact them directly to see if they carry said generic and if the specific pharmacy is able to get it and they normally will be happy to give you the information. An example is the pharmacy that I use is a small mom and pop pharmacy, which has a ton of distinct advantages and a couple small caveats as well, but we get all our prescription and OTC products from McKesson, which is our distributor.
Currently we have Alprazolam 2mg in the Sandoz formulation and have been getting it for months now. I can only take the Actavis/Teva or Greenstone generics and the pharmacist said they could special order them and that they wouldn’t even consider the name brand for obvious reasons, but he told me the distributors that he used so I just called McKesson and asked if they had any of the generic brands I could have, and they said they provided just about every single generic on the market at the moment, and I told the pharmacist that and now he orders 3 100 count bottles of both brands and he has them ready for me every 27 days. It’s just really down to who you have as a pharmacy, the distributors and what strength you are prescribed, if you (and your pharmacy) knows that you will be getting them regularly (ie more than a few months) and if you’re willing to pay a small fee for a special order to offset any losses from the pharmacy. Now I can’t tell you for certain regarding if one of the big name pharmacies are going to be willing or even open to this, but I do know that small pharmacies and Kroger are mostly more than willing to help provide what their customers need. (I don’t know about any other Kroger and if they would do that. I did my certification training for them and know everyone well so I can’t say for certain that others would) but if all else fails just let your physician know and they may dismiss it at first but if you continue to have problems and you continue to call and especially send them a message on their email or app communication, they will have to, or if anything did happen to you and you had electronic communication established that shows you attempted to get help from your provider, that could lead to very serious repercussions for your provider. Just thinking out of loud.
Greenstone 2mg are the best. Actavis are similar but take longer to work and can be more sleepy. Sandioz are not sleepy and relax the mind great.
I've been taking 1mg Activis brand and it's been the most potent of all other brands I've taken unlike Breckenridge and Arubindo.
Yes I’m going through the exact same thing right now all I can find is the little white ones I cannot take the white ones and all our pharmacies is got is the white ones I’m looking for a pharmacy that can order the actavis brand yellow bars I get 90 a month. I mean if I could call the pharmaceuticals to send my prescriptions to the pharmacy and pay them for all their work I just want my right medication and can’t get it I’ve been going through this for the last six months but yes you are right there’s something going on with the Xanax is only the 2 mg though nowadays even the ones that come from the pharmacy
GREENSTONE is as close as you'll get to the original from Pfizer Inc. Pfizer not only owns GREENSTONE generics, but their drugs are the EXACT proprietary formulation as each previous name-brand drug they manufacture.
Just from being on this topic, TEVA took over Adderall IR in 2017ish and are usually carried exclusively through Walgreens, but I've seen them elsewhere, and Walgreens used to ONLY carry the Actavis generic of XANAX, yet I filled my 2mg Rx December of 2020, and they were Sandoz - even my friend who is Rx'd 1mg tabs from Walgreens, she got Sandoz blue-footballs. COVID has now become evident as the strict shipping laws disable most meds easy access to the U.S. and during 2020, more than 70 million new prescriptions for XANAX alone were written. Not even counting Ativan, Klonopin, nor Valium.
Pharmaceutical companies change often. Xanax has always been a product of Upjohn pharmaceutical. Before generics cluttered the shelf's it was brand only. It was depressing to see the first generic depence. However greenstone is fast release version remanes to be very close to brand name Xanax. They have changed somewhat but still are erthe cleanest and closest to brand. The yellow bars made by Actavis, a slow release version but work well and are of good quality.
That summarizes the facts. Generics are somewhat different, but are clinically equivalent
I am currently taking 2mg of Xanax XR three times daily (Generic) but have been on benzos for about 15 years and used to be prescribed 2mg Xanax IR up to 6mg a day. Xanax XR generic my ONLY preference is Greenstone. That being said, when taking Xanax IR, the most Narcotic Xanax Generic is Name Brand/Greenstone. Although Actavis makes a nice 2mg IR Tablet, depending on the results you are seeking, I find the generic to be a very quick pumper. Effects hit you like a “School Bus” (hence their nickname) and then therapeutic effects are long gone before 4 hours. The most realistic and therapeutic Xanax IR tablet IMHO would be Sandoz with Name Brand/Greenstone in a close second. I definitely prefer my Xanax 2mg IR’s white, or I do not find them to be therapeutic. However, I do find the release of XANAX XR 2mg Greenstones to be also identical to Name Brand and I get the most therapeutic results with only that generic when it comes to Xanax XR.
I take 3MG XANAX XR in the morning and before bed, and use my 2mg IRs as needed throughout the day. I mean, 3 XRs a day seems a bit much - they are SUPPOSED to last 6-11hrs, but still, they come to the pharmacy in bottles of 60, as they're meant for twice-daily dosing. Perhaps ask your doctor about 3mg XRs 2x a day, or 2mg XR 1 st night and 1 each morning with a 2MG IR or two for breakthrough anxiety through the day.
I've had the Actavis brand for a long time and they are good!
Take care!
Have you had Greenstone? Would be safe to say that’s the equivalent of Pfizer brand name. I’m trying to decide if I want to stick with Greenstone or move to Actavis which I’ve had great experiences with
