My doctor just prescibed it to me. I have never heard of this application for this drug.
When bulging discs are diagnosed. Is lyrica a good drug for back pain?

I am taking Lyrica due to a herniated disc because it is pinching some nerves. The Lyrica has made a HUGE difference in my life, but that is because Lyrica is for nerve pain. I've had some crazy doctor tell me "all pain is nerve pain. Pain is from the nerves, therefore Lyrica will work" (which unfortunetly isn't entirely true. Nerves CARRY the pain signal, but nerve pain is very different than other pains). I have Sciatica running down both of my legs because I have a nerve root pinched on each side of the vertebrae from the herniated disc material. If you have any nerve pinching of some sort, I really believe Lyrica will help you.
Thank you StephanieAlice. Sciatica from the pinched nerve root is exactly what I have. Lyrica was prescribed only after 5 epidurals. Each one less effective from the last. Your reply is greatly appreciated.
Have a great day.

You are so welcome. You will not believe the relief you get from the Lyrica. I was started on 75mg twice a day. Now that I have it in both legs, it is 150mg three times a day. If I had to choose between any of the medications I take, it would be Lyrica hands down. I don't think I could walk w/out it. Let me know how you're doing and how it helps :)

Will do.
Have a wonderful day!

I was just prescribed Lyrica for nerve pain associted with a disk laying on a nerve in my back. My back problems are from L5-S1. I am on Norco and Skelaxin for the pain but the pain in my legs and feet got so bad I had to ask for something for nerve pain. I'm hoping I get the positive results you talk about. It does make me extremley sleepy though. I have to fight to stay awake. Does this side effect subside with time?
It did for me in a few weeks time. If you have insurance that pays for the Lyrica, you may also have insurance to pay for Lidoderm patches. The Lidoderm patch takes care of what the Lyrica does not. It has really helped me cut down on my other medications though the nerve problems are not my only problems with my back. Good luck and let me know how it goes if you remember!
