I am considering switching from Cymbalta and Wellbutrin as they no longer are working for my depression/anxiety. I am considering trying Auvelity, however, I am concerned this medication with not help with anxiety.

Hi, Caro! The problem I might see is that besides dextromethorphan, Wellbutrin (bupropion) is the other main ingredient in Auvelity. It still might be more effective for you as the combination. These reviews are for Auvelity and although it's primarily used for MDD several people do mention that it's helped with their anxiety: https://www.drugs.com/comments/bupropion-dextromethorphan/auvelity-for-major-depressive-disorder.html Hope this is of some help.

In my personal experience it made my anxiety worse. A lot worse. I started in October 2nd 2024. I haven’t been able to get a deep breath the entire time. Well it kept getting worse. Then i was getting tense so bad i had to consciously say relax. Anyway, after a pulmonary, cardiologist, primary care, psychiatrist, and therapist. All of my CT and MRI’s were perfect. I went to the ER yesterday it was so bad i couldn’t breath at all, i was crying, scared, afraid something unrealistic was going to get me. So my only thought is it had to be the auvelty. Now don’t let that scare you. Because at the same time my depression was sooooooo much better. It does work and is an amazing drug. I just think it’s not for me or I’m allergic to it. I see my psych the 13th. We’ll see what she has to say.

Auvelity on its own can be very effective for anxiety, especially anxiety related to ADHD. My wife has recently started Auvelity and already reports his baseline anxiety has decreased dramatically.
In general Auvelity can be taken along with an SSRI such as sertraline (Zoloft) if necessary.

I’m just curious. Are you on Auvelty and a SSRI? I am and I burn and can not stop the Lexapro at all. It hasn’t happened since stooping the Auvelty. But i might have been having serotonin syndrome.
