Indications or conditions Effexor is registered to treat are major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder and panic disorder.
The usual dose is dependent on the condition being treated and the maximum daily dose is dependent on whether the patient is an inpatient environment or an outpatient environment. The maximum daily dose is 225mg daily when living in the community.

hi I had my effector increased over time to 487.5 xr daily - I know I was completely stupid to allow this.i got off it in about 2 months very very hard.
The max doses for Effexor vary according to the different diagnoses and medication type. For Major Depressive Disorder
Tablets: do not exceed 375mg/day (in 3 divided doses).
Extended release capsules: do not exceed 225mg/day (one dose).
All of this information can be found on the Nursing Central app.

Actually, my aunt is on 300 mg and my doctor (Canada) says it's typical for people to be on between 150-300 mg.
Hey mick,
The average dose for Effexor XR is 150 mgs while the maximum is 225 mgs.
Hope this helps,
Laurie
I am with enigma and maybe there's different recommendations from Health Canada and the US FDA but over 225mg is common in Canada.
