I am taking MiraLAX powder for the first time, but do not have the paper instructions and need to know how much to use? I do not have the packets but do have the powder. Please advise.
What is the usual dosage of MiraLAX powder?

I was confused at first too. The small back label peels off. You can barely see the words "peel off" at the top left corner of the back label.
Then you can see all drug facts and directions. Directions say to fill to the top of the white section in the cap, which is marked 17g. The 17g is barely visible... just fill to the top of the white portion inside the cap. This provides the once daily dose recommended for adults 17 and over. Mix with any 4-8 oz of desired beverage - hot, cold, or room temperature.
First time using MiraLAX and am amazed that there are no instructions regarding dosage anywhere on the bottle. Amazed that I had to Google an answer. First time ever that I have not found detailed instructions on over the counter medication. Appears highly irresponsible, IMHO.
This my first time taking this product, how am i supposed to mix it.
I admit that it is hard to find, but under Drug Facts it says "Active Ingredients (in each dose) ... 17g (cap filled to line)"
There are directions on the sticker portion on the back of the bottle. Its a little tricky to pull it apart, but when you do the directions will be located at the bottom of page 5 and top of page 6 of the "Drug Facts" sticker. Hope this helps all fellow confused comsumers:)
The directions are behind the label in back of the Miralax bottle. You must peel the label back to access the directions. Hope this helps.
i took whole 8.3 oz bottle of powerder mixed it with 64 oz gaderade and drank it the doctor told me to for a colonnspony am i going to die i belived him i drank half it at 2pm other half at 8 pm is this right
Who would know... Why in the world would any company who makes medicine (like Miralax) not have directions on the container. I bought it at Walgreens& every bottle there was the same. It didn't come in a box or had no “lift tab that had directions so I don't understand why directions would not be listed on label at all.
As a matter of fact - there are no directions on the website.
I had to just type in yahoo search "Miralax usage directions" and clicked on this site just to get any kind of answer.
After doing some research - I am not the only frustrated “ex-customer”.
I hope they are correct, if not... more will be heard from me.
Any clue why they would think this is ok or even how this got passed FDA approval process???
I just reported it to the FDA.
There is an arrow on the inside of the cap on the 2nd line fill to there and put in a glass of water or any beverage. I used Gatorade. Delicious.
Possible incompetent and libelous conduct carried out by there being an absence of instructions on dosage intake when using starting to use MilLax, an over the counter prescribed drug.
1) How many US citizens have any idea what physically does amount to 1.7 grams of MiraLix? 1/1,000,000 of one percent. Supposedly, said dosage is equivalent to a "heaping tablespoon of the laxative" which can be diluted in 4 or 8 oz of water.
2) Since the Drug Company "Bayer et. al." does reference a recommendation for one to consult with a medical professional before and after starting to use MiraLax, there is a clear indication delivered by Bayer that the product they manufacture and prescribed as being able to use to treat a problem medical condition one should use with great care because serious side effects, health problems and social embarrassment events can occur as the result of the use of their product.
I suggest everyone who has a concern about what may be found to be incompetent behavior on behalf of the MiraLax product manufacture take the time to register a complaint with US Department of Food & Drug Administration, hopefully such conduct will result in corrective measures including the posting of warnings and proper product dosage will become part of the information included on each bottle, packet or other type container which is used to sell MiraLax.
May the US Food & Drug Administration put in place with the change in government management being put in place become four Savior and protector. We need to rid our government of the incompetent government administration that has been allowed to fall into place in the past century. We need to stop illegal and offensive conduct that has been carried out to benefit Big Brother business interests.
HELLO all you guys!
The Miralax bottle that "I" have, purchased at WALMART in January 2017, has a "PEEL HERE" label with seven (7) printed pages of DRUG INFORMATION including DOSAGE and a CLEAR description of filling the cap to the TOP of the WHITE PART!
If some people would pay attention, they would see that it tells them for the directions, look under the top label. You have to pull the label back and the directions are under neath. When all else fails, read the instructions! They were not that hard to understand. My husband wanted to know what the equivalent was in ounces for the 17 grams. I had a chart that converted different measurements from one measurement to another. It said to multiply the grams (17) times 0.0353to get the amount of ounces in 17 grams. I came up with .60 . Hope this helps.
I purchased Miralax for the first time. There is a peel off label with instructions under it.
The above answers are good, but on using Miralax for the first time recently I had been given the mistaken impression that "a capful" was the correct dosage. I had gotten a bottle of generic Mirlax (polyethylene glycol 3350) and "a capful" would actually have been about double the recommended 17g dose. The "measure line" inscribed inside the cap was not differentiated in color and was easily missed upon first examination. On the good side, this seems to be a drug where taking a somewhat larger than usual dose once or twice does not normally seem to be actually health threatening -- it will just tend to have a stronger (and perhaps socially embarrassing) effect.
The Perrigo Polvethylene bottle has a blue cap and inside the blue cap is a white cup what I thought is a measuring cup that would come out. It is a measuring cap, but not one that comes out. The top of the white cap is 17g. You can see this with a magnifying glass, but it's hard.

Each bottle of MiraLax is supplied with a measuring cap marked to contain 17 grams of laxative powder when filled to the indicated line. One to 3 days (24 to 72 hours) may be required to produce a bowel movement.

MiraLax is Company and sell a lot of that I do not understand why they do not have directions on the bottle at all shouldn't of had to go to Google and try to find out you pay that much for it there should be directions on the bottle I find it humiliating enough that you have to buy it that you're at that point that you're having problems then you have to ask for directions come on
It is the first product that I have ever bought that did not have directions. Ridiculous. For those without computers it would be impossible to guess. Oh, yes, the Dr. said you might have to take more. More than what???
The bottle does have the directions. I have the bottle in front of me. Always had the directions.
They do have instructions on the back. Some bottles you have to peel back the label where it says “peel here”

Good lcuk and take care.-
I think you can use it everyday unless you get diarrhea asks stool softner.what are your comments?
Thank you for your question and answer. I cannot see the line inside the cap, as is true with other senior citizens. We are not on the Metric system yet; I wish providers would at least provide both methods. Life is hard enough. Not to mention needing a magnifying glass to read the instructions.
Peel off the back label and directions will miraculously appear.
