What is the difference between break line tablet and tablet without break line?

The difference perhaps lies in the die punch which is used to compress the tablet, see no other difference, however please do also a professional such as a pharmacist who might have more accurate answer.
The main purpose of using a break line is so that a patient can accurately break the tablet in half if required. This is normally done if a large tablet is to be used in a child in 2 separate doses. If the dose in the tablet is such that it does not require to be broken in half then one may manufacture the tablet with out a break line.
However, some manufacturing units produce tablets with break lines depending on the availability of the die.
Rarely the break line is used for aesthetic appearance.
