I started taking sertraline 25mg in may, and went back to the doctor to get a higher dosage (50mg). I weighed about 250 pounds before I began the pills. I am 5’10 and 23 years old. I have no health issues or history. No other medications. I’m not complaining because I needed to lose weight, but now I am down to 220 pounds, In only about 3 months. Just wondering if this is healthy. I still feel normal, I still have a healthy appetite and feel almost no side effects. I do work a lot and play sports as well but nothing in my life style and level of Activity has changed in the last 3 months from before I started on this pill. The pill has really helped me by the way. Thanks for the help!
Is weight loss normal on sertraline? (Zoloft)?

Hi! Sertraline does help some to lose weight and others to gain. I've been on this for 8 weeks and lost 22 pounds. I love it!
Hi, Csmalls! Zoloft is considered to be weight neutral in that it can cause weight gain OR weight loss in a few users:
"Common (1% to 10% of users): Anorexia, increased/decreased appetite, weight increased/decreased"
Do keep your doctor informed of further weight loss; although it may be a good thing overall you don't want to keep losing too fast.
