I've been on Sertraline for three months (I think) and 200mg for almost four weeks. I don't feel any better and the side effects are still really bad. I'm not looking for medical advice but general responses - have others continued and benefitted from this medication for chronic OCD?
Four weeks now on Sertraline 200mg?

Hi, Phil!
Most people will begin to feel some improvements, even if minor, in the first two weeks or so. Side effects generally subside within that time also. Since you're already at the highest end of the recommended maintenance dosage for OCD it's probably time to discuss some options with your health care provider and that may entail looking at other medications. It's not uncommon to have to try a couple until you find the one that works for you.
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better soonest.
Thank you. I’ll discuss it with my doctor when we speak on Thursday. I’m not sure what options there are though as I’ve been on so
many different drugs and had a lot of therapy. A psychiatrist said I might be “treatment resistant” and part of me agrees.
Just out of curiosity if I may ask, have you tried Paxil or TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation)?
Both are FDA approved for treating OCD.
Wishing you good luck!
I’ve tried Paxil among many medications. I live in the U.K. where we have a different health care system and I’m not sure if the treatment you mention in available through the National Health Service. I know it’s very expensive privately.
I have taken Sertraline for many years. It has helped with my OCD but not eliminated it. The highest dose I have taken is 100mg. That being said, 200mg is high with you still feeling terrible and having side effects. Maybe time for a change? Good luck, because I know it is very difficult to navigate to the right medication.
Thank you. Well I think I’m going to persevere for a couple more weeks as I’ve read some positive stories of the medication helping people with OCD once the side effects have settled down.
