I took At night at first and had broken sleep. So I take in the morning and I’m not fatigued, but my sleep is still very broken, not as deep and I wake up early. Does anyone else experience this?
Did Vraylar affect your sleep?

Vrylar did not affect sleep. However it caused terrible balance problems. It got so bad I had to walk with a cane and walker. Only doctor who figured it out was my neurologist. He said it affects the d3 gene. If you have any balance, tripping, or falling this is a listed side affect and should go off it immediately.
As far as merely answering your question, yes I am having trouble with sleep since taking Vraylar. In fact, it's the middle of the night as I write this, because again I find myself not being able to stay asleep until morning -- and I just need to make it to 5:30! It's good to hear that I'm not alone, nor crazy, in experiencing this side effect.
I was originally taking 1.5 MG at night with problems. But since switching to mornings, I still either have broken, restless sleep or wake up extra early and start my long day from there.
The only thing is, the darn stuff actually works -- for me at least. It HAS lightened my mood and has provided better focus, provided I haven't hit that brick wall from lack of sleep by 3 or 4pm.
I can only answer with what I plan to do. It's been four days since I switched to mornings, so I'm giving it a little more time (unless any of you out there have already tried this without result.) I'm already taking extra Klonopin at night, so I don't need any more sleep aids. After another few days, I'll get in touch with my doctor and tell him I have to stop. In the mean time, I'd take it every other day because I know it would take a week for him to reply after contacting his office.
Again, it's a shame if this doesn't work out, but at the risk of overstating the obvious, sleep is important! Good luck and be well, everyone.
I’ve taken 1 bottle of Vraylar and I’ve been antsy and on edge.
SLEEP nothing but broken 2-3 hours of sleep and nightmares! I hate it….. I was sleeping and now I’m struggling to sleep 3 hours at a time and the nightmares are not worth the medication. I can not tell it has helped. My diagnosis is incorrect for Vraylar I have had a tough year of 2 sibling dearth’s from leukemia and I am not bipolar. My husband thinks I’m irritable but it’s not from bipolar, it’s life and being labeled. I need to grieve, it’s ok to grieve. Patience is what I need from my husband (love & support). Sleep I need badly since being on Vraylar!
Hi, Weepy!
Yes, you need sleep! You might want to have a talk with the doctor who prescribed the Vraylar and tell them exactly what you've said here.
You might also consider therapy or a support group to help you through your grief.

Vraylar seems to be the culprit out of my cocktails of meds I'm taking atm. I was on 40mg Prozac in the AM and 500mg of Depakote in the PM. My Psych decided on Vraylar since those two were only halfway helping with mood and irritability. She switched me to 20mg Prozac and 250mg Depakote in PM to taper off, Vraylar in AM.
My first day on Vraylar was tiring. I was so tired at work all day. After that days were ok. The nights however have been about 5hrs solid sleep, then I'm up every hour +/- 15min. I thought it was the Prozac at night so I changed it to AM, still 5hrs then up and down.
Vraylar is promising as my brain doesn't get "jumbled" when I'm irritated and I can actually think things through and talk myself down from having a negative outburst.
I have been on vraylar for 8 days now and my sleep has definitely been affected. I stay up late and get up early. I wake often in the night. I went from sleeping 10-12 hours a night to maybe 7. I dont really mind this change because sleeping your life away is not much fun. Other than the sleeping thing I really like this med so far.
Vraylar wrecked me. The 1.5mg dosage caused me to wake up every 30-45 mins throughout most of the night. The 3mg dosage gave me a sleep apnea type issue and I could barely get more than 10 mins of sleep at a time. I was absolutely miserable and my doctor took me off it.
I started this medication about 2 weeks ago. Since then I've had a horrible time getting to sleep and staying asleep. I switched taking my medication from at night to morning with my cymbalta, and I seem to be able to get to sleep easier but I still have broken sleep patterns. My doctor considered putting me on requip, if you found a solution to this issue please let me know!
It's not just restlessness, but restless legs, can't get comfortable, hot and cold sweats, etc. Feels like withdrawals, honestly. I hope it goes away, but if anyone else experienced this and found a solution please let me know! Thanks!
I have but I've also switched to this some Saphris and the side effect of that withdrawal is insomnia. I've been experimenting a little with melatonin, but melatonin is not good to take long term, but it does help some. I recommend starting off with a lower dose however. Less is more with melatonin. The higher dose put me into a depression the next day.
For the first week or so I took it at bedtime at the recommendation of my doctor. I slept very well. Very soon after, I’d wake up at 0300 and had trouble falling back to sleep if at all. If I could, I would wake up several times. I think I’ll start taking Vraylar in the AM and pray my normal sleep pattern returns. It stinks working full time when you’re exhausted.
Just for a few nights and then all was good.
"Psychiatric
Very common (10% or more): Insomnia (up to 13%)"
This is a common side effect and generally resolves on it's own quickly.
Six years on Vraylar 6mg now and I'm happy, healthy, and well rested.
When my husband started Vraylar he experienced bad insomnia after a few days. He could fall asleep, but couldn't stay asleep. For about 2 weeks, I think was averaging around 5 hours of sleep, it was really bad. However, after those 2 weeks, it started getting better and he switched to talking Vraylar at night. He had no issues with taking Vraylar at night. Now he sleeps just fine.
You may have a similar experience to his, but it will get better and more importantly, your sleep pattern will return to normal. Hang in there
I had 6 nights without sleep my first 6 days on Vraylar. I took it at night the at first, then switched to a.m. Notified my doc and he added Geodon at night. Sleeping like a baby. Hope this helps.
