I am 66 and I have taken 150 mg Effector XR for over 20 years. I weaned myself off it and lasted about 6 months. I was very chatty then found myself getting choked up as if I was going to cry for no reason. Finally I was hit with anxiety that would not let up. Could not sleep. Very wired. May have been triggered by issues with a child and grandchild. Went back on Effector XR at 75mg. I upped it to 112.5 mg. I have a very flat affect. Not terribly excited about much of anything yet also not terribly stressed either. My wife notices the flat affect and is worried. Other symptoms are tooth grinding at night, blurred vision, dry mouth, some dizziness if I have been lying down and rise suddenly. Part of me thinks this is just the way it will Always be. I would Like to be off it. Many in my family have various levels of anxiety. lots of stress at home when young but I dont think there was any major trauma or maybe I just acclimated to it. Part of me just sees it as biology. I have heard it permanently alters brain chemistry. Can that be reversed? Tried therapy but that was useless. Seemed like talking but with no goal or intent. After maybe 4 sessions I quit. Very hard to find therapists here. Seems we are in a mental health crisis. Any thoughts?
