Is vagifem tablets that says exp 2/2014 still good to use - will it work?

Hi... a doctor I worked for told me a general rule of thumb that over the counter and prescription meds. U can use 6 months past the expiration and a year for ointments and creams..something id be inserting like vagifem or creams etc to that area, I would not use it pasrt the expiration date of the bottle or box... too sensitive an area there to mess with not fresh, medication:!

I will never use any medicine which is expired.
