I take the contraceptive pill. I Was told by a friend that I needed to wait 7 days every month after I finish my period (the placebo pills), before the active pills worked and I would be protected again.
I have been not having sex two weeks out of the four every month and it is very annoying. It doesn't say this on my pill packet.
Do i need to wait?
Can I have unprotected sex after I finish my period (so the placebo pills) while on the pill?

No, it is only the very first pack that you have to wait the seven days. As long as you take your active pills correctly, you are still protected while on the 4th week of inactive ones. You only have to wait the seven days on the very first pack After that initial waiting period, you are protected 24/7 as long as you take your pills correctly. .
Your friend is wrong. That's only the first month. After that as long as you take your pills correctly you are protected 24/7.
Thank you so much!
Does this count for the NuvaRing also since its basically the same thing?
