You are doing great maintaining control. Gas can be a side effect of metformin too. Try some simethicone for it. Gax-x is an example of that, but there are other brands and generics.

Your blood sugar control has been great! Are you sure that you are getting enough to eat? Be sure to get plenty of protein. Protein burns longer and will keep you full longer. Carbs burn off quickly and elevate your blood sugar too so low carb, high protein is what you need. You can try adding a high protein snack at bedtime if you get hungry over night. You may be having your last meal too early in the day. Make sure that you are getting enough calories too. Ask your Dr how many calories you should take in (it will depend on your weight and whether you need to maintain weight or lose weight) You may want to see if you can see a registered dietician to help you refine your diet so you are eating the right things in the right amounts.
