After many attempts using powders, creams etc for jock itch for relief I decided to try triple antibiotic. The result is less irritability, good night's sleep and a lot more comfort. Has anyone else tried this method?

Do NOT use backtrack on jock itch. I just did and it was god awful. It started SEVERELY ITCHING immediately. Dont be like this guy...
I know this is from 5 years ago but answering this for others. I tried antibiotic cream after nonstop Lamisil and clotrimazole anti-fungals doing absolutely nothing and the antibiotic cream worked.
Jock itch for a small subset of people can be bacterial. Only try though if all the anti-fungals aren't working since for the majority it is a fungal infection.
Jock itch is caused by yeast. The last thing you want to do is use an antibiotic and get rid of the bacteria on your skin, and let the yeast grow. There is a spray made by Tenormin and other manufacturers that works great for jock itch. Its otc. The ointment may stop the itch because it blocks air to the area, but that's the last thing you want to do with yeast.
Hello K
Thanks for your reply - sounds both reasonable and is appreciated. I'll look into the Tenormin as soon as I complete this reply - and keep you updated.
Tenormin? A beta blocker for jock itch? Thanks but no thanks. I'm absolutely sure you've given me the wrong reply.
Not all jock itch is yeast. There are strands that are in fact bacterial and no amount of anti yeast treatments will work. I tried for nearly two years with and without a physician's assistance. We fount that a combination of anti-bacterial cream and antibiotics worked to knock it out. This was after years of anti-fungals.
Triamcinolone seems to work best - a prescription strength cream. I don't think the first commenter knows what she's talking about.
