I have been on different anti-depressants for 30 years TCA's, SSRI and SNRI. Some i have taken worked for periods of time for example I had been on Lexapro 20mg for about 8 years and like others it stopped working. My Doctor put me on a TCA Doxepin and worked up to 200mg at bedtime
Less depression but very dry mouth. I started 10mg Trintellix 2 weeks ago and don't notice any improvement I have had none of the listed side effects but my legs feel very weak and pain full has anyone else had this sympton?
Trintellix - How long does it take for people to feel any improvement on average?

I've been cautious and only take 1/2 a pill of low dose 5mg (2.5mg).
Day 8 yesterday. Had horrible night sweats 2 night ago and have been in a really foul mood, angry also.
I am stopping this crap today. Yet another SSRI/SNRI that I cannot tolerate.
Have you discussed your intolerance with your doctor? While being equally effective for many people the older TCA's and MAOI's may be more tolerable as far as side effects.
Yes. I even did a DNA test to see which meds would fit best.
Cymbalta was horrible by day 6 or 7, Lamictal even worse at day 6, now this "new" one.
Thanks for replying.
Does the DNA test take into consideration the tolerability of the drug(s) or just which drug(s) would be most efficacious?
Hi, vmrdoug! The bad news is that muscle pain/cramps and unusual weakness are common side effects of Trintellix but the good news is that they generally only last for a few days to a couple of weeks, getting better every day.
Although some people report improvement sooner for the majority of people it takes a good 4 ~ 6 weeks to begin feeling the full benefits and 6 ~ 8 weeks to reach therapeutic levels in the bloodstream.
Be patient because it's worth the wait. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones who responds quickly.
Best regards and good luck!
I can cope with the physical side effects but the appalling low/suicidal mood is unbearable. Also lack of proper sleep.
Hi there, I have been taking it for 3 weeks. no depression, or mood improvements yet present. But I am currently slowly coming out of a three week hell of cymbalta 60mg withdrawal. So when I mention my side effects they could be partially due to that. I am experiencing severe pain and cramps all through my legs and into my Jones, and also feet too. I am also struggling with night Time itching and bad nausea.
I really wish you well, and hope this helps as it is all I have to offer at mo.
My situation is much like yours and I'm so thankful I did not wait longer than one month to stop the Cymbalta. My doctor stresses for me to be patient with the Trintellix, that full effects can take up to 2 months. I've found that taking the Trintellix on an empty stomach with a warm beverage (I'm a coffee drinker, but tea might offer similar results) helps with the nausea.
